Transportation questions

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for three nights prior to a Royal Caribbean cruise.

When I booked the resort direct with Disney, I was offered free bus transport from the airport to the Resort.

Does anyone know if I can use this same service to return to the airport to meet the transportation services provided by Royal?

If it is available, what time do the transportation services start? We would prefer to be back at the airport by 8:00am. Is this possible?

Disney's Magical Express service is a free transfer to and from MCO on your days of check in and check out. If Royal Carribbean offers transfers to and from MCO, I don't see why you couldn't use DME to get back to MCO to meet up with RCCL's transportation.

I guess the questions you need to answer with RCCL are what port are you cruising out of and what airport will RCCL pick you up at. Have a great vacation.

DME is a 24/7 service between MCO and WDW or return. They don't care what day you actually arrive at MCO or if you actually flew there. Similarly, they don't care if you actually fly out of MCO on the day your resort stay ends.

If you want to be at the airport at 8:00 am, tell Disney you have a 9:30 am flight. Sometimes it helps to have an airline and flight # so as not to explode the head of the Disney representative.

Disney has an additional service for DME. On your departure day, in the hotel lobby, they offer to take your luggage for you, so that when your bus arrives, all you have to worry about is getting aboard. Please don't do this; the luggage will be loaded onto a utility truck and sent to the MCO luggage sorting facilities. You won't be able to retrieve it for your cruise.

Take your luggage with you when you board the return bus to MCO. The bus driver will load the luggage in the lower bus storage area. I usually tip $1 per bag for the driver's service.

This service isn't provided by DME, although many seem to think it is. Besides, there is no way you could give them your luggage to check if you don't have a flight. They are basically curbside service, with the 'curb' being about 30 miles from the terminal. You have to be flying in order to use RAC, so there should never be any worry about mistakenly giving your bags up.

And yes, you can most certainly have DME take you back to MCO. If you need to be there for 8:00, I would call them (DME) directly and tell them what you need. If you tell them you have to be at the airport at 8:00, and they think it's for a flight, they are going to give you a pickup time of 5am!!! Now, you could tell them you need to be there for 10am, then they'll pick you up around 7ish, which gets you to MCO in plenty of time. I can see the 9:30 arrival time that OKW Lover gave you working....but they'll pick you up about 6:30ish. I would really just call them directly and explain that you need to meet a cruise shuttle. That's what I do if I need to get back to MCO to rent a car.
