Transportation questions (Plus grocery question)

We always rent a car when on our trips to Disneyland. But we really only use to to go to and from the airport and to make 1 trip to Target. But it looks like a week of a rental car is really expensive now.

For those who don't rent a car (or have their on car)....

What do you use for transportation to and from airport (SNA, specifically) to your hotel? What is the typically cost for whatever you use?

What about if you need to make a grocery run?

We are two adult plus 1 child who still requires a booster in the car. We typically have at least 3 suitcases.

Kind of unrelated - Has anyone done any sort of grocery delivery to avoid having to drive somewhere? Is the delivery window large or small and who did you use?

Around $30 for Uber or Lyft.
It depends on what the nature of your grocery run is. If you're staying at the garden grove hotels, you could just walk to Target.

From my experience, GoPuff will take at least an hour in Anaheim and if the previous delivery had any issues, it could take up to 3 so definitely not "within 30 minutes" as advertised and they also aren't full groceries. I've only used Instacart at home and not in Anaheim so I can't say on their time window accuracy.

When we used to fly into SNA, we took shuttles to the hotel. We drive ourselves now, since the dark days. That said, now that we drive, we usually hit the Target on our way to the hotel and pick up everything we need for the week. There's a Target south of the parks off of Harbor and Chapman. Not much help, but we've adapted and it works for us. Oh, and the shuttle was approx. the same as Uber/Lyft from SNA.

We mainly get food for breakfast, bottled water, and snacks at our Target run. But we don't stay within walking. We stay on Harbor right across from the parks.

Do we have to bring our own booster for an uber?

We've taken both taxis and Lyft to/from SNA -- Lyft is a little cheaper ($30-35 vs. $45 for tax); taxi is a little easier when leaving the airport (right at the terminal instead of having to walk to the the parking garage). The BubbleBum or MiFold are easy portable booster options.

I've used both Instacart from Aldi (Instacart has a lot of grocery stores available in the Anaheim area -- Albertsons, Vons, Stater Bros, Ralphs, Super King, Sprouts, Smart and Final, Costco, Target, Food4Leaf etc) and Amazon for grocery delivery. The CVS and Walgreens at the corner of Harbor and Katella also have a decent grocery selection though you definitely pay more for convenience.

We love to do Amazon Prime or Whole Foods (through Amazon) delivery. It's a 2 hour window and I set it up to be delivered in the window of our arrival. For example, our flight arrived at 5:56, so I picked the 4-6 delivery window. Bell Services holds it and we pick it up on arrival.

I have used Lansky twice in the last year and a half from SNA with my toddler who needed a car seat. They provide a car seat upon request and also stop at a grocery store on the way to the hotel if you put the request in your reservation. They are definitely more expensive than Uber or a taxi but with them I don't have to bring a car seat with me since the only time I would need it is to and from the airport. The cost for me was $184 round trip in May though as a returning client I got $10 off

Yeah, I was just looking at their site. How strict are they about the 30 minutes at the store? With our son in tow, things might take longer than that.

We use either Uber/Lyft or a regular taxi from SNA. My kiddo still needs a booster so we have the Graco Right Guide, which is a super slim booster that fits in a backpack.

We used Sunny's from SNA - Disneyland hotel. It was $100 each way. I'm not sure if they stop for grocery runs but you could ask them.


Ordering groceries from Amazon is easy. You could also order from Safeway/Vons. Target has same day delivery, maybe you could do that in Anaheim.

Do you know what hotel you'll be in? Some of them are very close to Walgreens and CVS on Katella and Harbor, which carry water and basic groceries. We walked there easily from Candy Cane Inn, and once stayed at Hyatt House which is right above Walgreens.

Maybe you could ask Lansky's about staying longer in the store.

Yeah, I was just looking at their site. How strict are they about the 30 minutes at the store? With our son in tow, things might take longer than that.

The last time I had my 2.5 year old and my 6 month old with me and was by myself so I was definitely not moving with any speed so I can't imagine I got out of there in exactly 30 minutes so I think they have a little bit of flexibility. What I did find helpful was to have a list of what I was planning to buy (even if a few additional thing snuck in to the cart) so I could do the shopping in some sort of logical order.

One other thought about the groceries. Alot of stores have curbside pick-up and you can order ahead. I know target and Walmart have that. Also Kroger grocery stores.

Do we have to bring our own booster for an uber?

Yes, you'd need to bring your own booster for ride shares (Uber/Lyft). We have a basic Graco booster that we take. Our grands are 7 each time we take them so we're comfortable enough doing a backless booster, but of course that decision is based on your comfort level and kiddo's ability to sit appropriately.

We always just do Lyft to/from the airport. One thing to remember is that Lyft's policy is no passenger in the front seat, so it can be a bit snuggly depending on your family's booty sizes We've been 50/50 in if a driver is willing to break the policy or not.
