Transportation question

My girlfriend and I were having a discussion last night about Disney. She mentioned to me that when she stayed at the Dixie Landing Resort (now Port Orleans) back in 1996 she was able to take a bus from the Resort to Universal Studios. To my knowledge, there was never a bus that took you from a Disney Resort to Universal Studios. She argued with me for a good hour about it and insists that she is right (but of course women are always right ::yes:: ). Just curious if anyone knew the answer. Thanks for the help!

There is no type of Disney transportation that will take you from Disney resorts to Universal. If she went as part of a convention or tour of some type, then that would make sense ... she'd have taken a bus hired by the convention company or tour group. But other than that, there aren't any busses going from the Disney resorts to Universal.

Yes there are in fact busses, Non Disney, that will pick you up at your resort and take you to Universal. I remember reading about it on one of the Theme park guide books.

Maybe the transportation system has changed since. Although I never stayed at a WDW resort, I stayed across the street from Downtown Disney at I believe Courtyard by Marriott. There, the concierge arranged for a bus to pick us up at the hotel and dropped off at Universal. It was the kind that stopped at every hotel to pick up a bunch of passengers before going to Universal. There was only one or two pick up times to return BACK to the hotel at night. I don't remember the company (it's been almost 10 years) but it was pretty straight forward. Maybe that's what she was referring to? I'd ask the concierge at your hotel.

The Mears busses go from the Disney resorts to universal daily so possibly she took that? If that is what she took to/from the airport, it would be easy to think that it was all Disney transport and not a separate company (besides the fact that the busses are different colors and have Mears printed on them)

About four years ago we took a Myers shuttle from the contempory to universal. We bought the tix at the front desk. All I can remember is that it took a real long time to get back because they stopped at almost every hotel along the way.
