transportation question if not staying at host hotel wine&dine 1/2

Here's my question- we want to stay at another disney hotel, not one of the host hotels for the wine and dine half--did anyone do a taxi after the race to get back to the hotel, how did it work out? was it a pain? If it's too much then we may just have to stay at a host hotel or maybe switch to one?

I did not use a taxi after the W&D but have used them across property several times. The cost is very reasonable and less then $20.

I would not try to hail one from the entrance of Epcot post event, rather leave through the International gate and hail one from one of the resorts. There you have bell services who can get you one quickly.

We did this exiting Epcot one night. We didn't feel like fighting the crowds or bus lines with a sleeping child, so we walked out the back, exited the Beach Club and had bell services hail us a taxi. From BC to CSR it was around $10. Well worth it that night.
