Transportation Question from WP to ADH

Hi. I'm really starting to get confused about transportation. I'm getting married at WP and I guess after the ceremony, we hop on a limo, drive around in a circle,... then come back to the WP to take pix, right? Well, I have a HUGE family (16 total - sisters, brothers, parents, and grandkids) plus DF's family. Does that mean I need to get a limo for EVERYONE? I have about 150 guests, so I don't want them waiting on the charter bus while we take pictures either. What to do? I've read somewhere here about mini buses. How expensive are those? Anyone? Anyone????:rolleyes1

we had our ceremony at WP and after walking by all of our guests, DH and I got in the limo (by ourselves), waved "goodbye" to everyone...and drove off to the end of the parking lot. We waited in the limo for about 5-10 minutes (it was nice to have a few minutes of alone time with DH to let everything sink in!) as our guests were invited to hop on the charter bus that took them to ADH for the cocktail hour. The immediate family and wedding party were out there too, but knew to stay behind for pics. Once the guests were on the bus, the limo pulled us back up to the WP for pictures.

The bus soon returned to the WP to take the wedding party/family to the cocktail hour. Then, DH and I rode together in the limo to ADH.

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

It does!!! So, the bus came back to pick up the wedding party? That's brilliant!! Did you have to wait a long time? How long do pictures take? You seriously just made my night.

glad i can help :)

so as we waited nearby in the limo (it was fun to watch everyone through the tinted windows since the actual ceremony was kind of a blur!), most of our guests got on the bus (i think it seats about 50). A few other guests followed the bus in their own cars, and then everyone who was left was pretty much either in the wedding party or family. We then took all of the family/wedding party photos in and around the WP, and by the time that was done, the bus was waiting to take more people, leaving just me and DH to take some pics alone...i have noooo idea how long pictures took, apparently i had no concept of time for the entire day! But, DH and I missed pretty much the entire cocktail hour (we expected it to be that way)...our wedding party arrived at ADH for about the last 20 minutes of cocktail hour, i think.

it sounds like you have more guests than we did though (we had about 100), but the bus can make more than 1 trip, i believe it's about a 7-10 minute ride to the ADH so if all of your guests can't fit on the bus, they might have to wait at the WP for 20 minutes or so....or maybe some can carpool together?

either way, don't stress too much about it...i put it all in the hands of our planner, and everything worked out perfectly! :wizard:

The mini buses are not that much cheaper than the charter, and they hold fewer people (hence the term "mini bus" :rotfl: ) I think I figured we would have saved $60 or $70 using one instead of a charter bus.

Sounds like you got it all figured out! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I understand the mini bus was smaller. I was going to use that instead of the limo for my huge family. But, now that I know that the charter bus can come back, then I'm good to go :) Thanks for your help.:thumbsup2 I still get to ride in the limo. Woohoo!
