Transportation problem for cruise

I posted this on the cruise board, but thought someone here might know. We have a cruie planned for October. We want to rent a car from the airport for our WDW portion at the beginning of the week. We would like to take DCL transport from WDW to DCL and then back to the airport following the cruise. Can this happen? Is there a company that has a return on property that we can drop the car off at, and then from that location catch DCL transport? Any advice?

Alamo and National have locations on WDW property - the Car Care Center (on the road to Magic Kingdom) and at the Dolphin hotel. So if you want to rent at MCO, then drop off at either WDW location you should be able to take the shuttle back to your resort and catch the DCL bus there.

Or you could rent the car at MCO, return at a location near Port Canveral (Budget has one very close to the port) and do the same in reverse to get back to MCO once the cruise is over. Than you won't need to take the DCL bus at all. Not sure how much transfers are with the bus; it might be cheaper to just use the rental instead.

I'm sure someone on the cruise board probably responded already but just in case they didn't - I would recommend keeping your rental car and driving yourself to the port. It's easy, cheaper, and you can get there when you want. DCL busses may not get you to the port until sometime mid-afternoon. If you want to make ressies, etc. you may be out of luck. Just have your drive drop off the luggage and passengers and have them return the rental and take the shuttle back. Easy from Budget near the port.
