Running the marathon for the first time this Sunday. We are staying in a hotel across from DOWNTOWN DISNEY the Royal Plaza. We will only have one car with us and I can not take it with me to the race start my wife will need the car we have small children. Does anyone know if there is a shuttle service that leaves from Downtown Disney, I could just walk across the street and jump on a shuttle. The hotel says they don't offer anything.

Thanks in advance for any help

Chad

Downtown Disney has bus service to all over WDW. Check with your hotel as they may provide their own shuttle service as well.

Also, you may have better luck in the Transportation forum.

i'm going to move this to the Events subforum - you may want to edit your title maybe include 'marathon weekend' if you don't get much response

There is no shuttle from DTD to the race start. However, walking from DTD to SSR to catch the bus there could be an option for you.

Your other option would be calling a cab in the morning - make sure you don't leave it too late as the roads will start closing after 4:00 am.

Chad...glad this post found its way to the events page.

To this PP: The shuttles the OP needs are to the Marathon Start early Sunday morning, and there will not be shuttles from his hotel, nor from DTD at that hour.

On another page, I suggested the OP post on the WISH page, in case either: a) someone else staying at his hotel could offer a shared ride;
or b) someone could comment on if it is feasible for him to walk to SSR from DTD and catch the marathon bus there.
or c) he will need to get a taxi.

Good luck! (again):goodvibes

There is a marked path between DTD and SSR. I would say it's about a 10-15 minute walk to SSR - someone who has stayed at SSR for marathon weekend will have to comment on where the bus pick-ups are. Are they the same as the normal resort bus stops, or is there one central one at the lobby like the other deluxes?

SSR only has one marathon stop that is located near the main building....

Several folks will walk to the SSR from the Hotel Plaza hotels. I am not aware of any historic issues. Just plan on getting to the SSR earlier to assure you have time to get all the way to the bus stop

I was able to talk to someone at the hotel who knew what to do. They gave me a phone number of the shuttle service they use and the service will pick up people from the hotels in that area at whatever time you ask them to and will shuttle said people to the marathon for $14. Which seems resonable to me.

Thanks everyone for your help and look forward to the marathon.

just incase anyone else is having transportation issues the phone number is

Nevermind I just goggled the SSR resort and it's about a half mile away. I'll save the 14$. Can you just board their shuttle? I don't have to be a guest of the resort?

Thank You again, Chad

they don't check for resort IDs. Everyone is all bleary-eyed at 3:30 in the morning, anyway. And if you run into trouble, just say you're with me. That's where my running buddy and I are staying. I'll be the one with the long brown ponytail and a skirt (much like my signature pic). :thumbsup2 See ya!

I see that there are buses for host resorts that take guests to expo and race.
I will be staying at BLT's, can I go over to poly and board a bus from there to get to these venues?
As a DVC member I did not even think about staying any where else.

Thanks

For the expo, yes... Just hop the monorail and ride to the Poly. No issues at all.

For the race NO. The monorail will not be operational during the period when you will be heading to the race. You will need an alternate way to get to the race. There are two options. One would be taxi to the poly... or in the alternate, taxi to the Start. It is probably only marginally more costly to ride to the start since there is a slight fee to just hop on the cab.

Look around on race morning as there will be quite a few others looking to get to the start. You may be able to hop a ride or split a fare

Hope this helps

I think you can take the monorail if it is going at 3am. You may want to ask on the Princess thread. Perhaps others are staying at BLT will know.

It is not a host hotel ... No service until the monorail starts, well past time to get to the start.

If I find my way to the poly on race morning then I can take the bus from there?
Thanks everyone for all your responses.
