Transportation from the Coronado

We've always rented a car at Disney but this time we're thinking of going without. How good/fast is the transporation from the Coronado to the various parks? How about to other resorts -- we're thinking of eating at AKL one night? I seem to remember there used to be a listing of various travel times to and from various Disney locations -- is that still posted somewhere on the Web?

We never use the buses because we always rent a car. We have numerous people who we have met at the resort say that the buses are some of the best they have ever used (I think Buzz's website gives an estimate of time travel to each park). Buses do not go to resort to resort.

We always rely on Disney transportation and have never had any problems. Going from resort to resort will take you longer, but if you just give yourself plenty of time you shouldn't have any trouble. I would only rent a car if I was going outside of The World.

We almost always use the Disney transportation from CSR and have rarely waited more than 10-15 minutes for a bus, and almost always have a seat. We do like to take our own car to DTD because then I have a place to put my packages! Most of the time, our car stays parked for our entire trip; it's so much easier, to us, to take the buses.

We have stayed several times at Coronado and have always had great service with the Disney buses. The resort is very conveniently located to all the parks and buses run every 20 to 30 minutes. We rarely ever use our car once we arrive at the resort.:earsboy:

CSR has terrific transportation. It doesn't share with any other resort (like POR / POFQ) and it only has 4 bus stops within the resort (vs 7 at CBR). And since CSR is centrally located, you'll have a quick ride to all the parks. And being a convention resort, the buses seem less crowded because guests are busy with their conventions.

CSR is the most central to the 3 parks. The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World in part three "Selecting your Hotel" it states that the commuting times to the parks from CSR are: 7:30 to MK; 4:00 to Epcot; 4:45 to MGM; and 4:45 to Animal Kingdom! As a comparison from POR it is 12:00 to MK; 8:00 to Epcot; 12:30 to MGM; and 16:15 to AK. See the map below.

The transportation at CSR is the best! We have stayed there several times and always comment on how wonderful the bus transportation is.

When we were there in May, no problems at all going to the parks or resorts. Longest wait was 15 minutes.

Also, the CSR stops at each of the parks are fairly close (as opposed to being the last bus stop and having to walk a long ways).

yes, their busses are awesome there! the only problem is going resort to resort but you can either take a bus to one of the hubs or take a taxi. A taxi to the Swan was about $7 I think?

The buses are great to get to the parks, but you will have to go to a park (AK) then to AKL for dinner. After dinner you will have to take a bus to a park that is still open to transfer to a bus to CSR. It would be easier to get a cab to CSR. The Unofficial Guide to Disney has times to the parks. It may be on their web site, touringplans.

We've stayed at numerous resorts and IMO CSR has the best transportation.

I don't remember the specifics but the times were significantly longer to travel via bus than your own car...the one that sticks out was Blizzard Beach...6 minutes by car 57 minutes by bus. The others were'nt as extreme; the only one that seemed to make sense to use the bus, to me though, was to the Magic Kingdom, the times were about equal but that is because the busses drop you off so close to the park.

We plan on using our car to go pretty much everywhere, I figure we will spend enough time waiting at the parks for things and when the 4 1/2 year old needs to go....we NEED to go ;)

-also wanted to add the ubiquitous parental quote, "Do we need to go out to the car and sit for a while so you can think about the way you are behaving?" is not something I necessarily want to give up...I consider it insurance I hope I don't need to use it but it is nice to know it is there!
