Transportation from SFB to Disney World with family of four, 4 suitcases, and double side by side stroller

Looking for advice on the best way to accomplish this. We will be flying into SFB in February for a stay at the Boardwalk Villas. This is our first time flying into SFB and not being able to use DME. We are two adults, a 4 year old, and an infant, both with car seats. In addition we will have four full size suitcases (Allegiant limits us to 40 pounds per suitcase and we really do need all four to pack everything we need for the infant and 4 year old), and a double side-by-side stroller. I'm trying to find out the most convenient and inexpensive method of getting us from SFB to Disney and back again for a 7 night stay.

Initially we have a reservation for an SUV rental, which is costing us approximately $350. With the cost of parking for 7 nights added in the total is going to be around $520. I don't really know that we'd use the car much once we're there, and would probably rather use any money we can save on that on minnie van rides anyway. I'm also looking at a Lyft XL as an option, but I'm not sure what the cost would look like both ways, and whether a Lyft XL would fit all of us plus our luggage and our stroller. Does anyone have any advice or opinions? Since we're paying so much for the trip we value our time and I'd want to avoid some kind of shared shuttle that's going to stop all over the place and take forever to get us to our resort. I'm really back and forth as to whether I should stick with the rental or take my chances with a Lyft XL. Thanks in advance for any advice.

There are many different car service companies that would be able to transport you for less than you’d pay for the rental. FL Tours is the sponsor of this forum; a lot of people also like Tony Hinds and Tiffany Town Car. You could also just get a Mears taxi; many of their vehicles are full-size vans.

Are you bringing your own child restraint and booster? They are required by FL law for children under 6.

Have you checked the cost of 1-way 1-day rentals from SFB to WDW & return? That would eliminate parking fees. Alamo & National are on-site at WDW with free shuttle; other companies are walking distance to DS, some may offer to pick up and drop off.

You can check the cost of Uber & Lyft by opening the app at home, entering your destination, and changing the pick up point to SFB. (Be careful not to accept the ride.) Web site https://ride.guru/ will also give estimates. Cost will vary by demand at the time you ride.

XL will be a 7-seater minivan or SUV, but not necessarily a full-size SUV. Luggace capacities vary. I have no experience with strollers.

Yes. We have a bucket restraint seat (that can be used without a base) that we're using for the infant for the airplane, so we'll have that. For the older child, if we did the rental car we had included a request for one with our reservation. If we don't do the rental car, we could either bring a second one (which would be a pain), or hope to book a ride from a place that has car seats available. If we did Lyft or Uber we would just bring the second one.

Oh, that's interesting, I will look into that, thank you.

Ok, thanks. That's my concern. An SUV that isn't full size might have trouble fitting all our luggage plus stroller. I guess at this point I am leaning towards the car rental companies suggested above.

Edit to add that the 4 year old is still in a regular forward-facing car seat, has not yet grown to booster seat size.

I would consider a one day rental. We needed a rental on our last trip and used Alamo. They came and pick us up. Their prices seemed fair. You would save on the parking fees. You could return the car after you check in and then have them pick you up for another rental at the end of your trip. It would probably be the cheapest option. It would also give you the flexibility to stop by the grocery store on your way to the resort.

I’m pretty sure you don’t have to Pay parking because you are staying at a DVC. That’s what I read for our upcoming trip to bwv.

It's not a DVC points reservation, it's a cash reservation through Disney directly. Thanks everyone for the helpful information, based on the recommendations above we decided to go with Tiffany Car Rental for the convenience factor. Thanks Again!

I know it's pricey but with two small children having a your own transportation might be extremely helpful. No waiting for buses with tired children. For us that alone was the best reason. WDW is very easily marked for driving so you can come and go very quickly. The BW often shares buses with swan, dolphin and BC so you may be spending extra time standing and holding you children during pick ups and drop offs. Just some other thoughts for you for renting. We still rent and our DD is 20:-)
