Transportation from LAX?

Well, unfortunately we bought our tickets for LAX instead of LGB or SNA. We know those airports are much closer, but we got killer airfare to LAX. We saved $100 pp by flying to LAX. I shouldn't say unfortunately; we are very blessed to be able to go at all!

We now need to figure out transportation to the GCH. We know about Super Shuttle and the Disneyland Resort Express. They are the same price (before coupons). Can someone explain the difference to me? I know that SS is a 7-passenger van, so we'd get dropped off in some order depending on the other guests. What about the DLRE? Do we wait for a full bus? How many hotels do we stop at? What order? Does anyone have a coupon code for either SS or DLRE from LAX?

We also were considering a town car service. Can anyone recommend a service to us? We need a safe driver, clean car, friendly staff, good rate. We just want to consider our options.

Thanks for all the help!!

DL Express goes directly to DLH, then I believe goes on to GCH. It's on a schedule so you don't wait for a full bus. DW prefers it to the various shuttles because of a smoother ride.

Sometimes the bus goes in a different order; I haven't experienced it, but others have. Check out the pickup times as they relate to your flight coming in. We tend to arrive when pickups are once-an-hour, and we always get in just as it's picking up. Boring to wait, and no nice place to wait in. To take up time we tend to walk up to the first terminal so we're the first to board, but then of course we have to sit through all the stops it makes on the way back through the terminals. :)

You won't have to wait for a full bus with the Disneyland Express; it'll pick you & whoever else is waiting at that time and leave on schedule, whether the bus is at capacity or empty except for your family :)

Here's a coupon for $5 off each ticket: http://www.anaheimoc.org/Articles/Archive/Webpage10153.asp

Thanks for the info! I had the same question as the OP as we are going to the GCH at the end of January and got a great rate with Airtran for LAX. No need for a rental car when we plan to spend our entire time at DL. Looks like we're taking the DL Express!

Glad I could help out! Have fun on your trip!

I just went 2 weeks ago and flew into LAX. My sister and I needed transportation to GCH as well. We had planned to take the Dis. Express, but when we got out to ground transportation there was a very nice shuttle there and the driver gave us a similar rate to D.E. (we paid $32 RT). We didn't even have to wait--we just got on and left for the hotel. There were about 4 others who did the same thing. I think it was called shuttle 1 or something like that. Anyway, I liked not having to make a reservation or hunt for coupons. We paid for a round-trip and the driver gave us a ticket for return. He called ahead of our return time to confirm and we didn't have to have a 15-minute window like Super Shuttle. It was a wonderful experience and the time went by very quickly! I've always avoided flying into LAX but after this I won't hesitate to go this route if the price is right!

We are flying into LAX on a Friday night scheduled to arrive @9:21 (Alaska Airlines). This will be a short trip for us as we leave on the Tuesday, so I didn't want to rent a car as we usually do. We are also staying at GCH, so I don't want to pay $15 per day for the car to sit there, as I don't anticipate leaving DLR during our trip.

I had read the stickies regarding transport, but it seems that the Disneyland Express at that time of night only runs every hour at half past the hour. I don't see how we can make it onto the 9:30 bus, and I really don't want to wait until 10:30:scared1:.

Years ago we took a Supershuttle van and it was scary. I was thankful we all arrived at the hotel in one piece - we rented cars after that. I have also read that prime-time shuttle is very unreliable. What do you all think we should do.

I already told DH we were taking the Disneyland Bus as he remembered the scary Supershuttle ride and refused to use them. Which shuttle would you recommend incase we miss the Disneyland resort bus?

DisMe, Do you recall the name of the shuttle you used?

I agree, it's a long ride on a Supershuttle, I would go with Disneyland Express. Much more comfortable.

Thanks for all the great tips everyone. Thanks also to spacemermaid for the coupon link!! There are several more on that page that I'd like to utilize. :thumbsup2

You're very welcome! I have that page bookmarked because there are always lots of great deals on it :thumbsup2 Have fun on your trip!

Myself and my family (5 total) took the DE last year and found it to be a wonderful experience. We did not wait very long and my family were the only people on it, the kids loved having it all to themselves! We were staying at the GCH and had to stop at the DLH first, but it was a short hop over to the GCH after that.

This Feb, my wife and I are going by ourselves. I have reservations with Harold's Limo Service for our ride to the GCH from LAX, but DW doesnt know about it yet :)

I'm going to be at an LAX hotel in February and want to go to Disneyland for 1 day. I've driven there a lot of times but really don't want to rent a car for 1 day and quite frankly, our flight gets in really late and I don't relish the idea of driving early next morning to Anaheim. I'd rather take it easy and have somebody else do the driving.

Is this feasible? Take the hotel shuttle to LAX, get onto the Disneyland Express at 8:30 am (or 9:30 am depending how awake we are). Get off at DLH. Spend a glorious day at DL and DCA. Take the Disneyland Express back to LAX at the latest time it'll leave DL (DLH?) night?

Will that still allow me time to see World of Colour at DCA (assuming it starts at 8:15 pm) ???

I can rent a car for $80 but like I said...I'd rather not drive if I don't have to.
