We will be in WDW for two nights after our Disney cruise. We made reservations at the last minute in order to use some banked points that would have expired. I would have preferred to stay at Boardwalk but could only waitlist. We will be at Bay Lake Tower instead. Is there an easy way to get to the Boardwalk from BLT using Disney bus system? One way I was thinking of is to walk to MK and take the bus to Boardwalk. If we do that how long is the walk to MK from BLT and how late will the buses run back to MK to return to BLT or is there an easier way.

We will have our car with us but I am not sure what is involved with driving over to the Boardwalk when we are not staying there so thinking Disney transportation is probably best.

Driving to Boardwalk and getting into the parking lot is not a guarantee, unless you have a dining reservation. The official policy is not to allow you to park there, but some security CM's might let you based on time of day and how full the parking lot is. There are several ways using Disney transportation and walking..
1. As you said - monorail to Epcot and walk through (quite a long walk)
2. As you said - Walk to MK and bus to BW, BC, YC, S&D. 1/2 mile walk possibly on each end (to BW direct would obviously be the shortest)
3. Use Contemporary bus to DHS. From there it is 1 mile to BW or you can take the Skyliner if you don't like walking. For moderate paced walking you will beat the skyliner, but some folks avoid walking
4. You can use DS as a bus transfer location. It might be open later than the parks.
5. Uber or Minnie Van direct

All transportation around a park stops 1 hr after that park closes. Uber lasts all night.....

Thank you both for great advice. I really wasn't thinking of the car as an option but only as a last resort. I really just want to use Disney's transportation. I think going to Boardwalk from MK is probably the best option. Going back to BLT might be better through DS depending how late it is.

Does the Disney App have transportation help when you are on property?

Yes, it does. Use the Search function to find your destination - I typed in Boardwalk and clicked on Boardwalk Bakery - and you can then tap Get Directions to get directions from your Current Location (if you’re allowing MDE to know your location) or from a location you type in. I typed in Contemporary Resort and got directions, but unfortunately it said to take the monorail to Epcot and walk through! :rotfl2:

Oh wait! That’s the preferred route, but I then tapped on the icon of a bus, and it said take bus from CR to DHS and then walk to BW.

Can also take bus to HS and boat to boardwalk.

Personally, I would do the walk to MK, and take the Boardwalk bus. I would consider taking a BC/YC/S&D bus if one of those buses was at the MK ready to leave and the BW bus was not there.

With all the options mentioned above, walking to the MK (10 minutes) and hopping a bus to the BW would be your best bet. Note that the S/D buses no longer pick up at the MK bus stops, one has to go over to the Transportation Center (parking lot for MK) to get a S/D bus.

Thank you. A 10 minute walk to MK from Contemporary is a short walk so that makes going to MK to pick up a bus to Boardwalk easy enough.

Quickest option, other than car or van, would likely be to MK and take the bus to BW. That is usually a direct bus, MK to BW and BW to MK. Only caveat is that you need to return to MK before the last bus from BW goes to MK, i.e., make sure you check MK closing time when there before deciding. The walk from BLT to MK entrance is a little under 1/2 mile. The walk from BLT to the bus to BW is actually somewhat less because the BW bus usually loads near the end of the MK bus parking area and thus nearer to BLT.

Thank you for that information drusba. I really appreciate everyone's input. We haven't been to the parks since before COVID and have always stayed at our home resort so not so familiar with staying at getting around from BLT.

Sometimes the MK S&D bus comes before a BW bus. We take that to the Swan and just walk across the bridge to BW. 5 minutes.

That option is possible but now requires going to the Transportation and Ticket Center to get the bus as the S/D bus to MK now goes there rather than the bus station near the MK entrance, a change made shortly after the BW bus became a direct bus to MK (it used to share with S/D).

You could also monorail to Poly…then take the boat to MK…then bus to Riviera, and take the skyliner to Epcot to walk back over bridge to boardwalk. That way you can do all the Disney transportation in one trip!!!

We actually had brought this up to an extent on possibly an evening around WDW as a couple without the kids. Except we would stop for a snack or drink to share in each location.

In that case take a bus to Disney Springs, a walk to Boathouse, stagger back from Boathouse full, and a bus to Boardwalk. Easy Peasy!
