Transportation from Animal Kingdom Lodge to another resort

We have five adults and one 2 year old staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge at the end of July. We want to go to at least one meal at another resort, since we are not planning to go to the parks. Disney Springs is no problem, and we have reservations booked. To go to another resort, however, our plan had been to use the Minnie van service since it could handle 5 adults and provide the car seat for the 2 year old. The latest resort update said Minnie van service is not initially available. Any suggestion for the next best option? Taking a bus from the lodge to Disney Springs and then to the other resort seems tedious.

Uber or take the bus to the park closest to the resort and walk/monorail or bus over to resort.

Thank you for the suggestion. How do we handle a car seat? It would be a pain to lug ours around the resort until we return.

Knowing which resort you want to go to would make it much easier to give you advice on how to get there.

I appreciate that, but we don’t know what will be open. We just know that we can’t eat Jambo/KIdani food for a whole week. We are not planning to go to parks.

Perhaps knowing easier transportation options will point us toward which resorts to book. Thanks!

Don't go to Disney Springs on the bus unless you are eating there. The bus trip to Animal Kingdom theme park is only a few minutes. Then grab the bus to the other resorts from there
Exactly the genius I was looking for, thanks! If we do a breakfast, do resort buses leave from AK park to resorts early morning?

I would think that once the buses start running to Animal Kingdom they will be running back to the resorts. We've never gone to a different resort for breakfast though so I can't confirm.

I think you'll be fine, though for pre-rope-drop we've had buses drop us off without going to a pickup slot. But if someone is waiting there (people forget things) I'm pretty sure they'll make sure you get picked up.

But as others said, you need to know where you're going. If you're going to Chef Mickey or O'hana you want a MK bus and then walk or monorail. If you're going to Trattoria al Forno or Cape May you could use a HS bus (walking or taking the boat I think I would still prefer to swapping buses at AK).

Just keep in mind not everything maybe open in July. Wait for the new reservation system. Right now you can only book Disney Springs restaurants nothing yet for resorts or in parks.

Being at AKL, AK is your nearest resort to connect to other resorts. You could also go MK for resorts on the monorail system and HS for resorts on Boardwalk area.

The breakfast at Boma is great if it’s opens back up. Don’t forget with the parks closing earlier than normal, that a late ADR other than Disney Springs maybe difficult to get too with just Disney transportation.

Very helpful, thank you all.

Concerned they may not even open Boma because of the buffet style. And with reduced capacity, reservations might be difficult to get. And then grocery service might be limited because they paused Shipping Services. Sigh.

You won't be able to eat at Jambo house. Jambo house it closed to the public form June till Dec because the NBA has rented out the entire resort and the public is band from entering the resort

The NBA at Jambo is only a rumor, and I don't believe it is true. An email received by a DIS poster from Terri Schultz said the Jambo building was closed because bookings were down. While she did't say this, it makes sense not to open that building because even if the DVC rooms were all full for the summer (and apparently they are not), most of the rooms in that building are hotel rooms. If I owned AKV, I wouldn't want to pay the entire cost of opening & staffing a mostly empty building, especially if it weren't necessary due to sufficient availability at Kidani.

The Rainforest Restaurant at AK may be open. Wouldn't hurt to check. We've enjoyed breakfast there on occasion.

I have heard that rumor. Where have you found it substantiated?
The rumor has caused all sorts of swirl, likely unnecessarily.

I will, thanks for the suggestion. I wonder if it is considered a Park restaurant where you need a confirmed park reservation.

It's located outside the park entrance so no park ticket required. There's also one at Disney Springs.

That is what I thought, but I wasn’t sure how it would be handled with the park reservation system that hasn’t been launched yet. They could sweep it into that since it shows up as AK in the reservations.
