transportation from airport to resort question

Hello everyone,

I am looking for information about transportation companies that will pick us up at the airport, make a grocery store stop and drop us off at the resort. I have seen various names in passing, but would like to hear from those who have used this service. How soon in advance did you book?

We will probably be arriving at AKL at noon. If our room isn't ready, will the resort hold our luggage so we can go to a park? Will they then deliver our stuff to our room or do we have to get it after we return?

Last question. . . has anyone ever shipped a package to their room to be there upon their arrival? How far in advance did you ship?

Disney now offers free transportaion from the airport to the resorts, it's called Magical Express. When you know your flight info just give Disney reservations a call and they will add your information to your reservation.

They will hold your bags for you and then they will give you a time to call back to see if the room is ready. Once you get to your room you can call for your bags and they bring them pretty quickly (did for my Feb 05 stay at CBR).

There are several town car companys that will give you a complimentary grocery stop. We always use Tiffany Town Cars and they've been great. I believe the DIS transportation board is sponsored by Flordia Tours, or something like that. I've heard they are good too.

Magical express is available, but it is not personal just for you, and there are no grocery stops. You ride a bus with other guests and sometimes stop at different resorts on the way to your resort. We will be trying it for the first time in December.

Bell services will store your bags and groceries if your room is not ready so you can go to the parks, or wherever, regardless of which form of transportation you use.

I actually just posted a review on the car service I use. Sunray Transportation. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=938027 There are others out there, but I don't have any personal experience with them. I usually book right after I book my flights.

Yes, they will hold your luggage for you until your room is ready. We did this at Coronado Springs two years ago. When we got back and in our room, we called luggage services and they brought it up within 30 minutes.

Yes, I have also shipped a package to the resort. I used www.netgrocer.com and the resort held it until I got into my room. Their shipping says it takes a week from date of ordering, so I ordered it 10-12 days in advance. They will hold it until you arrive. One time I did the 7 days before and after I ordered it, it said that it couldn't be delivered until 3 days before I went home.

My wife and I have used FL Tours as has other members of our family. All I can say is our experience with them was simply wonderful - have a great trip !

We have been using Shirley's Luxury Towncar for our transportation (choice of towncar, van, Yukon) the last few years. Shirley has now become a good friend that we look forward to seeing when we travel to WDW.

She accepts all coupons and also makes grocery stops.

But most importantly, she is reliable. I highly recommend her... excellent service!
