I am trying to decide on accommodations for the marathon. As a runner I think it will be fairly convenient wherever we stay. However, I'd like my husband to be able to try to see me at a few spots along the race - maybe once at Magic Kingdom area (ttc, magic kingdom, GF, or poly) and then once somewhere midway like AK or studios and then at the finish (or close to it).

If he only uses Disney transportation, would he be able to get around to these locations? He is a fast walker and I am a slow runner. But I don't know how early Disney transportation starts in the morning. I do not expect him to be at the race start.

Other than the monorail resorts, do you have any recommendations for a hotel and how he could get around? I'm thinking of possibly WL, AK, or maybe Bwi or YC.

TYA!

First, all advice you receive will be based on the old course not the newer course. Saying that, the new course opens the possibility of seeing you at AK this year, where prior to that, it was a tough haul.

If he comes to the start with you, he will be better able to get a spot in the TTC or Main Street area. It is very difficult to double up on these two. As you leave for the start line from the staging area, he would head to the monorail and head up to the TTC.

We choose the TTC, Ploy/GF as a double up. I think I would have him do the TTC, then way to the GF for the second viewing spot. There are fewer folks at the GF so spotting one another is easier.

Now the tricky spot... He needs to monorail back to TTC and do one of two things. Hail a cab... The stand is right there. Or, monorail back to Epcot and take the first marathon bus leaving to the first resort... then take the Disney bus to AK. For me the can is the safer option as you know it will get him to AK. The bussing will just be cranking up to AK about the time he wants to head over... possibly creating a long wait and missing you.

He will have extra time this year to get to AK since we run through the race track. but waiting for a bus may still have him getting there a little late.

A third option from the GF/Poly would be to ride the monorail back to Epcot, take the All Star marathon bus to the All Stars. He should hop off at the Sports Resort and then walk back up to the Mc D. From the McD, head up the exit onto Osceola and he can catch you at about mile 15.

Finally, he needs to get back to Epcot for the finish.

Hope this helps.
