Please explain the Disney transportation available when taking a cruise. We would arrive at MCO, and I know they pick you up there, but then what? Do they take you to the ship the same day you sail? What does it cost, and how long does it take?

This is probably a question best reserved for the Cruise board, but since I can answer it, I may as well! If you have not yet checked out that board, please do, it's fabulous!

If you are flying in the same day as you sail, then yes, of course, they take you right to the ship! If you arrive before, you can still use the service either from the airport or one of the Disney resorts on the day of your cruise. We stayed at the Hyatt in MCO the night before, and then just had to go the lobby to get the bus. A major convenience of staying at the Hyatt is that they will handle the luggage for you in the am.

I believe the cost was something like $50 per person, but it's been awhile now and I cannot remember. It takes just about an hour to get from MCO to the port. If you booked with a travel agent, they can (should) book the transpo for you.

DCL uses regular 'Greyhound' size buses......the same size they use for park transportation.

The buses are beautiful and "themed" to DCL. They also show a cool video on the way there. It does add to the experience if you're a first-timer, and especially if you have kids.

Here is a link to the company that runs the shuttle for the DCL the third picture from the tops are the buses that are used although sometimes the yellow and back Coaches have been to be used too

The technical name for these buses are Van Hools

rats the post links you to the entire site which is also helpful but the actual place to click on is SERVICES

Mears may officially run the buses that serve the cruise line, but you do not book this thru Mears, it is booked thru DCL directly (or via TA). I did not take a picture, but if you want to see a good one go to Barb's (inkcognito) fabulous unofficial DCL site. http://www.castawayclub.com/. click transportation options, then Disney buses.
