DH registered for this and asked Disney some time back about bus transportation there and back.
He was e-mailed twice that yes, Disney would provide bus transportation for the race entrants.
He was notified recently, via e-mail, that transportation WOULD NOT be provided after all.
We are sans car. Taxi is the only think I can think of.
DH was thinking about seeing how far it was from ASMu to Epcot, and just run there for the race (in addition to the race). And he thought it looked like running TO the race looked to be as far in miles AS the race itself.
And like most of us know, those roads really aren't made for foot traffic.
Are there any back roads/shorter routes he could run on to get to Epcot? I am guessing the taxi service will be quite heavy that morning if no transportation is provided for the runners.
Any other thoughts or suggestions?

BTW -- Disney did tell him transportation would START at 8:00 am, the same time the race STARTS.

One thing I will say... PLEASE DO NOT RUN TO EPCOT!!!! Not a good idea. As you stated, those roads are not meant for foot traffic, and are VERY dangerous.

Busses will start running at 7:00am for Character Breakfasts, including the ones at Epcot... I don't see why they wouldn't be able to take you there. And if I remember correctly, Disney usually does provide transportation for this event... My advice would be to call 407-WDW-RIDE and ask them... They are the Bus Experts. :)

Thanks, I will call that number. :)
This was the latest e-mail DH received. (The previous two stating there WOULD be transportation to Epcot for the runners in this race.)
"Thank you for your recent email regarding Disney's 10K Classic.
To answer your question, Walt Disney World transportation begins at 8:00am - therefore transportation from your hotel to the start line is not available. Transportation from the finish back to Epcot, or to your hotel will be provided. A couple of alternatives would be taking a cab (your resort can help you with that), or running to the start (actually a lot of runners do this as a warm-up).

We look forward to hosting you in October! Take care,

Kecia A. Christiansen"

Never trust any Transportation information given to you by a non-transportation cast member... A lot of times, they don't always have the most accurate information. WDW-RIDE is our Central Bus Information... they know it all. :)

After re-reading, we realize the race STARTS at 7:00 a.m. So looks like a taxi will be in order.
And somewhere between Aug 8 and Sept 12, someone at WDW decided the race participants will not have bus transportation to the race.
But I will call the number tomorrow and verify this.

That was a un-Disney experience! :p
NO TRANSPORATION FOR THE RUNNERS!
 Bad, bad, Disney... Thump, thump, thump.

I called WDW-RIDE. First I just get a recording of their hours (which I was calling in). The message repeats twice, says Good-bye and disconnects me.
I redial. Someone answers right away. And doesn't know a D&^% thing, other she admits she doesn't know.
I ask why Disny would hold a race and NOT provide transportation.
Doesn't know anything about it....
She was very nice, but transferred me to Mears who said -- Call Disney. I don't know anything about it.
I told him they transferred me to him. He says -- well, nothing's on the books.
 :p

Chip'nDale -- If it didn't Pi$$ me off so much, I would have been speechless too. ;)

I've never seen anyone be able to stump RIDE before... We have drivers call them over the radio, and ask them the most obscure questions you could imagine... and although it takes them a few minutes, they always come up with the answer.

Well... Let me see what I can find out when I go into work today. It's my first day back from my vacation... :)

Much appreciated!
At this point we just figuring a taxi will be necessary. I don't know how many are registered. So I can only imagine the long line of cars and hopefully a taxi will not be hard to get!
I still think it stinks.

Luv2Roam, how frustrating for you. I hope Chip 'n Dale Express finds an answer for you. CnDE is the kind of CM guests like - provides real guest service!

Alright, so I asked my manager about transportation... he checked his schedules and whatnot, and his manager hasn't passed down that info to him yet. However, he said that he would check into it for me. He did however mention that he is pretty sure that we will have something in place for it. However, that was just his thought. Once I have a definite answer, I shall let you know. One other thing... Call WDW-RIDE once more, but closer to the actual date... they might have more information then.

Thank you SO MUCH! I REALLY appreciate your insight and going out of your way! :)
