Transportation Efficiency at AKL?

Getting more excited by the minute for my upcoming trip!

Can anyone that has stayed at AKL tell me how efficient the buses are from there? I will also have a vehicle and am wondering which will be my best bet to ensure I am at my park of the day plenty early.

Does the bus for AKL make any other stops before hitting it's final destination?

Are there any stops prior to the bus arriving at AKL?

How crowded are the buses for AKL usually?

Any tips will be appreciated!

AK Lodge typically receives excellent transportation. It does not share buses with any other Resort. And despite having the feeling of being in the middle of nowhere, it has relativly competitive travel times with other locations on property.

When Blizzard Beach reopens, the Studios bus will handle that water park. Routing goes AKL -> BB -> Studios, and reverse on the way back. Stopping in at BB adds only a negligable amount of time onto the run.

During mid afternoons, the Epcot bus might stop in at DAK to help them out.

During late nights, and park closings, often times AKL and DAK are combined to one bus. However, AKL is usually always the first stop, so you really dont notice.

AKL buses may get crowded during PEAK travel times, however, most often the bus is only half full.

Indeed, for MK and AK, the bus will get you there much faster. Epcot and Studios are about equal... but the bus is air conditioned, and you dont have to deal with idiot tourist traffic

I had a different experience with the AKL busses but it was in Nov. 2001 so they may be better now. I was extremely disappointed with the bus service to and from AKL. It WAS Thanksgiving week and the place was packed, and Disney had just done a round of lay-offs including bus drivers. We waited on average 30-45 minutes for a bus!

The mornings were TERRIBLE trying to get on a bus for any of the parks before opening. We had to wait for the THIRD bus before we got on it one morning. People who had just come out of AKL pushed their way to the front and got on the busses before people who had been waiting for a half hour.

I was amazed at the difference when we stayed at CBR a few months later. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus the entire week! You'd think the deluxe resorts would have better service, especially as AKL does not have monorail!

It really might be better now! Maybe someone who has been to AKL recently can chime in.

Have a WONDERFUL trip, you will LOVE the atmosphere at AKL!
Make sure you ask for "Jules" as a server at Boma!

We were the December 4-10 of 2001 and had EXCELLENT bus service! We also were there a couple weeks ago, and again found the bus service to be excellent!
