Transportation during race weekend

We are going from bay lake to animal kingdom on 2/27, the day of the princess half marathon. Our friends are meeting us and driving themselves from swan/dolphin. Can we get through in an Uber and will they be able to get through in their car? Or do we or they (or both) need to take Disney transportation? Thanks !

I had a nightmare of an experience getting from Epcot resort area to AK the day of a half. Buses were in the same boat as vehicles, stuck. We used Uber and it was twice as long a trip as normal. So you'll get there but plan on extra time and be sure to pack your patient pants.
