Hi! I'm still playing around with hotels for our trip this Jan. We THINK we are going to stay onsite at WDW then move onsite to Universal. Still playing around with the $$ to see if it's worthwhile not to have a rental car & be onsite, or stay offsite and rent a car..... So many decisions :) If we do stay onsite, what is the best way to get from WDW to Universal? Is there any kind of shuttle running between the two? OR would it more cost-effective to rent a car...........considering we need transporation from airport to hotel, then hotel to hotel, then finally hotel back to airport.

Help.............anyone??? :)

One thing to factor in is how long is your trip? If its long, it may pay to rent from airport and return it to WDW (some rental companys have a site on WDW property) then renting for 1 day again for your return trip. Using a service like Mears will cost you about 20.00 per person per move. While onsite you don't need the car if you don't intend on visiting something off site.

Hi! I am planning a trip the same way that you described in your post a few years ago. I have been searching online and your post came up. I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you end up taking this trip? And if so, where did you stay & what transportation did you use? I want to take my son, who will be 12 when we go next year, so it will be 2 adults total. I want to stay at Port Orlean's French Quarter & go to WDW for a few days, then switch and stay onsite at Universal & stay a few days there. We are going to fly so we won't have a car. I appreciate any help that you can give me.

Thank you!!

We did the same thing the past 2 years. It is definately worth staying on site at Universal b/c that's how you get your FP.
We used Happy Limo last year and it was fine. This year again and what a BAD experience we had. Do NOT use them!!! They never showed up at the airport to pick us up.
There are plenty of other car services out there. I heard on the boards that Tiffany Town Car is good and i've heard of FL Tours. Check them out I think they're all pretty much the same cost. Good Luck!

Didn't realise this thread was so OLD Sorry!!!!!

Just for your information - there is a sticky at the top of the transportation board which outlines the transportation options from Disney to US/IOA - you can find that thread here

our last trip we rented a car at the airport from EZ rental I think it was for $25 a day got upgraded for free. We went to universal for a couple of days drove over to the Boardwalk checked in, dropped off our bags then drove the car back to the airport and took Magical Express to Disney. Magic Express from Disney to the airport. I was upfront with Disney when I made my reservations and told them that was what I wanted to do they had no problem with it.
