Hi all. Planning a trip to Universal, staying at the Hard Rock and will be staying 10 days. I would like to also visit Disney world for a few days. Is there any transportation service that can take a family of 5 to and from. I would rather not rent a car or take a traditional cab. What do you think the best way to do this? Thanks for your advice.

Does Universal have a shuttle service or offer some type of transportation for that?

Mears shuttle or 1 day rental car or taxi. No free shuttles between the 2 parks.

Mears is easy. Call, give them time for pick up and drop off. They are reasonably priced and dependable. I usually stay in Disney but have done separate days to universal. Have fun!

Thanks for the info. I will look into Mears :) or just rent a car on priceline the night before I leave.

For a family of 5, the Mears shuttle is more expensive than a cab and less convenient; it's $20 round trip per person, and you have to go on their schedule. They often make multiple stops; you're sharing a big van or bus (depending on how many people are making the trip). They are reliable, and you don't have to worry about car seats if that's an issue.

A cab would be about $35-40 each way, and super convenient. Renting a car would most likely be the cheapest (though you do have to account for gas and for the $17 parking fee at WDW). All three Deluxe Universal resorts have a Hertz desk, so you can pick up and drop off your car right at the hotel. I think the Priceline approach makes sense, except that you might end up needing to take a cab just to get to and from the rental car place.

One tip is that if you do take a cab, it's way more convenient to take it to the Contemporary and walk to the Magic Kingdom front gates from there (about 8-10 minutes). If you take a cab to the Magic Kingdom, you get dropped off at the TTC, where you have to take a monorail or ferry to get to the front gates.

I booked a town car through Execucar to take me from Universal to Disneyworld - cost $25 for up to three passengers. Cheaper (and much nicer) than a cab. Just had a quick look - for five people it would cost $60 because you'll need an SUV service. Still a lot cheaper than Mears!

A town car can be a good option, but it's not (in this case) cheaper than a cab or Mears, because the Mears charge is round-trip whereas the town car is one-way. And with cabs you can get a van cab easily that can handle up to 7 people, and it costs the same as a sedan that handles 4.

Town car service typically is competitive with cabs for up to 4 people, and worse for 5-7 people, because vans cost the same for cabs, but more for limo/town car services.

Oh right, didn't realise Mears was a round trip cost - thanks for the clarification.
