Here in LA we have some busses that go to different attractions/places.
how far is it between universal Orlando and Disney world and is there any sort of transportation? Or are we going to have a hell of an Uber bill lol.

I’ve always had my own car for this when we’ve done both. I think the distance is 25-40-ish minutes, depending where you are specifically going/coming from.
There used to be a Mears shuttle I think that you could take but I believe they aren’t doing that due to covid right now. So I guess uber or rent a car? There are car rentals places around Disney. I wish I could help more!

Disney resort busses will take you for free to the Disney parks and Universal resort busses take you for free to the Universal parks.

The resort you are staying at might have some options, but in general the best way to go from the Disney zone to the Universal zone is going to be Uber or rental car. As the PP said, Mears in the biggest shuttle bus/taxi operator in the Orlando area.

If you are trying to visit both parks in one trip, I would recommend a split stay unless you are doing just one day at Universal.

One thing to remember if you used to Disneyland is that the Florida parks are bigger, spread out all over and it all takes a lot of time. Another factor to think about is that once you get dropped off at Universal, you still have a ways to go before getting to the parks. You have to go through security, then walk through CityWalk before you finally arrive at the area where you decide which park to enter. That can take 45 minutes if you are unlucky.

Oh dear lord. This trip is giving me anxiety now.
No need for anxiety on vacation! If have a plan in mind, share it on here and plenty of people will offer you tips.

The biggest tip I can share right now -- don't try to do too much.

The local public bus system for the Orlando area is called the LYNX system. It has buses that go to Disney World (to the Ticket and Transportation Center) and buses that go to Universal Orlando, but no bus that connects the two. I don't think you can even get between the two with only a single transfer. There is a also a tourist bus called the I-ride Trolley that goes somewhat near (but not to) Universal, but doesn't go near Disney at all. I join the others in recommending you pay for an Uber, Lyft, taxi, or other paid service to transport you between your Disney Resort (which I saw is AoA in your other post) and Universal for the one day you plan to visit there. If you were planning to do multiple days at Universal, I would recommend a split stay.
