Transportation back to Airport - rental or bus?

We have an 11:40am flight from Orlando back to Buffalo on 11/22 after our 7 day cruise. We are renting a car to get us to port, but since our timing is very tight on the return, wondering if renting a car on the way back is not a very good idea. Do we have enough time to get off boat, through customs, shuttle to car rental, rent car (are the lines long at Avis checkin?), drive to airport, drop off car, go to airline checkin? Would it be much faster to just get off boat and have the DCL bus or a towncar waiting to take us back to airport? Thanks, Jo

We just got back from our 08/02/2003 trip and to be honest, Avis was the worst part of our trip. We actually took a taxi from the port to Avis because they only had one shuttle running and the line at the rental office took about 30 minutes. We had a later flight so it didn't stress us out that bad, but if you are pushing for time, you might want to take the bus.

We just got back from the 08/02/2003 cruise and we had no problems with the DCL bus transportation. We exited the boat at 8:30am and arrived and were checked into our flight by 10:15 am. The cost is only $50/person round-trip (adult). Also, depending on what airline you are traveling on, DCL will load your luggage at the port and it will be checked into the airline automatically. You never have to fool with it at the airport. We flew on Southwest and they don't have this service for that airline but I think they do for Delta, American and several other airlines.
