Okay, I feel like I am beating a dead horse, but I am still undecided about where to stay for our December trip. It seems that our time will be evenly split between MK (2-3 days) and MGM and Epcot for at least 2 days. I have never stayed at a hotel located in the MK area before and I am now wondering if it will seem really far away from the other parks (we have ressies for the WL).

Is it faster to go to the TTC or the Contemporary and catch the monorail to epcot? It may be just my 3 year old and myself (not sure about DH yet) and am overanalyzing everything! I guess I want a wonderful x-mas trip that will be easy to do if I end up going solo....

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the only way you can take the Monorail to Epcot is through the TTC. The contemporary monorail is on the resort loop that goes through the CR, Poly and GF.

You are correct. But from the WL, I am sure it would be faster to take the bus to Epcot. Otherwise, you have to take the bus or boat to the MK, then take the express monorail to the TTC and then switch to the Epcot monorail from there. That would have to take longer. We did the buses everywhere (even MK on occasion) when we stayed at WL.

The Contemporary monorail does go to the resorts listed but also will stop at MK, you would need to get off at the MK stop and then tranfer to the epcot monorail.

We are also staying at the WL this Dec 4thru 10 and also wondered what would be faster, I still think the bus would be faster, but will see what other say that are expert's.

The epcot monorail is at the Ticket and Transportation Center, not Magic Kingdom. You need to depart the resort monorail at the TTC. The fastest way from WL to Epcot is by bus, however. Taking the boat to the Contemporary, then catching the resort monorail to the TTC and then switching to the Epcot monorail will take longer, as would taking the boat to the MK, then taking a monorail back to the TTC to catch the Epcot monorail. Bus from the resort is best.

Did everyone who stayed at the WL enjoy their stay? I have always stayed in the Epcot or AK resort areas (my husband loves epcot) and was a little worried about trying something new...

I loved my Wildernes Lodge stay. I usually prefer the Epcot resorts because that is my favorite park. I think I even like the WL over the Poly.

Editted to add a little more:

The theming at WL is just so...majestic I guess is the word. Normally, the Lodge look is most definitely not my style. I'm more a YC/GF type. There's just something about it though. When I went I wasn't all that thrilled. Just wanted to stay at a Deluxe and YC/BC were cost prohibitive due to nothing but rack rate. I 'settled' for WL and absolutely loved it. It's my 2nd favorite resort after YC/BC. While the Poly is nice and I thought I would like it much better than I did, there's just not as much Disney magic there for me. Maybe it has to do with all the individual buildings.

Having said that, now that I live down here and go to Disney more often (tomorrow night for a quickie one night stay), I've begun to stay at the Values. And boy was I apprehensive about that after pretty much being a deluxe girl. For the money, they are a great deal. Not crazy about the giant icons but if you want a cheap room, on-property for a quick stay, they can't be beat. By the way other than my last BC/Poly split stay, I am usually a solo traveler.

We have stayed at WL the last 3 visits. We take the Bus 95% of the time. No matter where we are going.

We take the boat to MK, or Contemp. We go to contemp to either walk to MK or for dinner. When At contemp, we preffer to walk to MK than do the monorail loop.

Worse care is you miss the last bus, and have to wait 20 minutes for the next one.

Then you are less than 20 minutes from where ever you want to go. So you have a maximum travel time of 1 hour, which is not too bad.

We loved our first WL stay so much we stayed there again in June 2006. That said, however, we usually stay at MK resorts - Poly is our favorite and we have stayed at the CR, too.
Nothing beats the convenience of the monorail service and the proximity of the Poly to the TTC as far as I am concerned, but I just love the peacefulness of the WL, so it is a close second for my DH and myself.
Since you have stayed at Epcot resorts, you are used to the sharing of buses thing. WL shares almost every run with FW and on occasion with another MK resort. But nothing like the Epcot thing. I travelled from BW to MK one night and thought I was never going to get there with so many stops. The Poly shares with GF and/or CR for some runs.
Our last visit at the end of Sept was a stay at the Pop and while I had no issues whatsoever (not even the buses) - I am spoiled with the deluxes, even when there is only 2 of us (as a family of 5, we always had to stay deluxe and got very content there).
