I really hope this doensn't get bumped...

Here's my situation. The DH and I will be arriving at SSR in 15 days. We were going to rent a towncar but decided a few hours ago to use ME instead. I know we need reservations, but is it too late? Who do we call? Is it a different number since we are staying at a vacation club? We are also transferring to BWV after a couple days. Will ME pick us up at BWV or do we need to go back to SSR? Luggage tags? We are so confused. Also is there a grocery store that will deliver to the Vacation Club resorts?

Thanks everyone! Happy Holidays!

Amanda

You can call Member Services to arrange for ME. Gooding delivers groceries, but they are pricey to begin with. Any service will be more than shopping yourself, but there are grocery delivery services, including a wdwinfo sponsor:

If you were to have a town car pick you up at MCO when
you arrived, they could stop off on your way to SSR @ a
grocery store...Winn Dixie? I've seen a message board somewhere
that the taxi service alotted them a half hour inside to shop
then took them over to their resort.

I'm sure there are some knowledgable DVCers out there that
can help you.
Good Luck!

The last time we went we used a town car service that cost us about $100.00 with tip. We did the grocery stop, but we figured that it would cost us less to use ME and then have our groceries delivered. We don't buy that much but could easily save money using ME. Anyone know anything else about grocery shopping and ME?

The last time we went in Oct we arrived at MCO and rented a car for the day from Alamo and went to the Super Wal-Mart near SSR and BWV. We dropped the car off at the Dolphin and then rents a car for the day from the Dolphin to MCO. I costs about $100. for the car but the savings at Wal-MArt compaired to the other stores is great. Plus you have as much time as you need to make sure you have everything. We would go to the resort and check in drop off everything and then return the car. Then hope a bus at the Dolphin and in the parks we went. I have never tried ME, I think it could take too long to get to the resort. That is just my opion.

From BWV, take a right out of the resort, left at Buena Vista, continue past CBR and Bonnet Creek and take the exit to 536 (Epcot Center Blvd). Get into the left lane on 536 until you pass the I-4 exits. When you get to 535 turn right for the new Walmart, it's about a mile down the road.

Okay, I just called Member Services and booked ME. I was told by the CM to gather my luggage (if I don't receive my luggage tags in time - which I probably won't) and then head to the Welcome Center. My luggage, except for my carry on, will be taken care of from there.

So here is my next question...how often do the buses leave Orlando airport?

We have use ME 3 times and never waited more than 15 minutes.

Have a great trip.

When you rent from MCO to the Dolphin, what is the official name of the Dolphin? So it's about $50 for one-way rentals?

Thanks,

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the "official name of the Dolphin". When booking via either National's or Alamo's website, near the text boxes where you specify pickup and dropoff locations, there will be a link that you click to bring up a list of locations. You usually have to do something like select Florida, then Orlando, then you should see a list of their rental locations in Orlando. One of the locations will be listed as something like "Orlando - Walt Disney Dolphin Resort". You should also see "Orlando - Walt Disney Car Care Cntr" (which is near the MK) and "Orlando Intl Airport". Just select the one you want and it will automatically fill in the correct code into the text box.

Since I have it open on my screen, I can tell you that the Alamo codes are ORLR74 for the Dolphin, ORLR72 for the Car Care Center and MCOT71 for Orlando Int'l Airport. National's codes are different. I think they all start with "MCO".

As far as price goes, last time I did a one-day rental from National (pick up at MCO/Orlando airport, drop off at the Dolphin) it cost me $36 with an AARP discount.
