Hi,

I am REALLY looking forward to our first visit to FW and our stay in the cabins. I am a bit concerned about the transport issues and wondered the following:-

A) If you are in a loop near the front entrance, is it possible to use a 'general' bus and just walk to your cabin, rather than get a second bus?

B) Can you drive to the car park at the front entrance and catch a bus from there to the parks and Downtown Disney?

C) Shoud I forget A and B and hire a golf cart?

We are used to staying at mods and using the Disney buses, just not sure if I can cope with using two buses each time!!

Thanks in advance :flower1: :Pinkbounc :cool1:

A) Possible yes, but its a long walk and I would not want to.

B) Yes, but not all the parks are serviced from the outpost. For some destinations you need to go to the settlement.

C) Golf carts are great to have on the days you plan on being in the campground but its a lot of money to pay if you only need them to get to and from a bus stop while you are in the parks most of the day.

We drive our car everywhere except to MK when we take the boat. Most of the time the internal buses run well. We have rarely had to wait more than 10 mins. for an internal bus.

I don't find the busses to be a problem at all. If you are going to MK you just hop on a bus to Pioneer hall and a short walk to the marina where you catch a boat. The cabin loops have busses that go by them very frequently. We usually have no more than a 5 to 10 min wait for a bus to come by. :D

You are allowed to keep your car at the cabin - don't need to park in the main lot . . .
Sometimes we'll drive to MK, guests park for free.

We almost never use transportation at front gate. The internal busses are pretty good and run frequently.

We usually ride over to the Pioneer Hall/settlement/marina and take a boat over to the Magic Kingdom TTC. The boats also go to the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. It's all part of the magic! That being said, it can take 45-60 minutes to get to TTC from the moment you leave your cabin.

When we stayed in the 2800 loop we walked a couple times from the Outpost. Its not that far but if it is at the end of the day and you're tired and you have kids...forget it. There have only been a coupl eof times when we weren't really happy with the bus system and waiting times.

Thanks to all for your responses - only a couple of days to wait now!

A. I can't imagine walking back to the cabin from the 2 main bus stops (Settlement Post and Outpost). It's really far.

B. They tell you not to do this. But I guess you can. If you're going to drive to there, you might as well just drive straight to the parks.

c. They are expensive.

We just got back yesterday and even though the busses come often, it's still a long trip to the parks. It's quicker to drive, especially to MK. It took over an hour to get to MK from our cabin. I couldn't imagine doing that when it's crowded and extremely hot. First, we were at a cabin all the way at the other end of the loop. It took around 5 minutes to walk to the first bus stop. We waited about 10-15 minutes for a bus. It takes just a few minutes to get to the stop by the water. It's about another 5 minute walk to the boat. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a boat. The boat stops at Wilderness Lodge on the way to MK. The CM told me it's a 35 minute boat trip from FW to MK. Then you have to walk to the front gates at MK that took about another 5 minutes.

The bus trips to the other parks take about 1/2 from the time you leave your cabin until you get to the parks' entrance.

Mary
