Transportation after "Wishes?"

I have read a number of references to viewing "Wishes" from the GF or Poly. What is the best way to return to POFQ using Disney transportation after the 10:00 fireworks in early June? I understand there is a mob scene trying to leave the MK at that time. Is there an alternate route that doesn't involve going back over to MK? Also, does the Poly have the music piped in anywhere?

Welcome to the DIS boards!! You'll find a ton of great info here.
Now, as to the best way back to POFQ after Wishes from the Polynesian. You can take the monorail back to MK and get the POFQ bus, but there will be a wait. Or, you can take a cab. Otherwise, there really isn't a good way. You could take the DTD bus from the Polynesian and then transfer to the POFQ bus but that is very time consuming.
The music from Wishes has been piped into the Polynesian area. But, I've watched Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian and it just isn't the same effect. But, if you just want to get the idea of the fireworks, then watch them from there. But, you miss the effects on the Castle, as well as Tink flying (if she is able to fly that night). The music isn't the same either. It doesn't surround you the way it does right in MK. But, it's up to you. But, there really is no 'quick' way back to your resort other than a cab.

Thanks for the quick response. We will have our 4 year old with us and will have to decide whether the crowds/hassle/late hours are worth it to see "Wishes" the way it is intended to be experienced, or if we would rather get the general idea in a more relaxed situation.

I am giong to assume (yes I know what happens when you assume) that you will have a stroller.

I would watch Wishes within the Magic Kingdom and do a leisurely stroll to the busses. If you wait for about an hour after Wishes, the crowds will be very much less and there won't be the lines that usually occur at POR.

Shop, stroll thru the shops, watch the Kiss Goodnight, etc. Let your 4 y/o sleep in the stroller until you finally reach the bus.

Has anyone ever experienced closing MK when you have driven to the park? How terrible is it trying to get back to your car and then to your resort afterwards, what is the best mode?

This is the one park I have always said I would never drive to and close, but just curious.

It can be tough to get back to the main car parking. There is usually lines for both the ferry and the monorail. My suggestion is the same, wait.

If you desire to leave at closing and not wait then try the resort monorail. It is usually less crowded but not as fast IF you can get right on the express monorail.

I completely agree. The beach is fun for watching the Electric Water Parade and if you're staying at the Poly or eating dinner there, it is quite convenient to watch Wishes after -- but it is a fraction of the magnicient impact. Gotta' see them full force right in front of the castle! I'd rate watching from the beach about a 3 and watching from inside MK a 10!

We like to go to MK for evening EMH just to avoid the crush of people leaving after the fireworks. If you schedule your dinner on an EMH night, the numbers waiting at the bus stops going back to the resorts might be less just because everyone would still be in MK.
