Now this might sound silly, but my husband and I were talking and thought we would throw this out there... Has anyone taken a taxi to Universal and then after your onsite stay at their property taken a taxi back to the airport and caught the Magic Express to your onsite Disney Hotel? :confused3 How did it work for you? does it save any money and if so is it worth it?

I've never done this, but it seems that taxi fare from USO to WDW would be cheaper than the fare from USO to MCO. Not only that, but you'd spend a LOT of time using DME.

i'm not sure you can do that.

i took the ME one year from mco to wdw.
i had to have my certificate from disney in advance to use it.

i had to have the date of my arrival and flight in their computer before they sent me the documents to get on the bus.

this year, ME changed some policies around.
they would not let people on the ME bus to disney unless they were signed up in advance thru disney.

they had some guests that did not sign up in advance when they made their ressies and wanted to use the ME on their arrival date. those people had to use a taxi or make other arrangements this year when i was at the airport.

more power to you if you can pull it off.
my only question is, why would anyone want to use the ME?

it is time consuming, long waits at MCO for the bus and they are discouraging the riders of taking their luggage with them on that bus.

i use car service now for a 3 leg trip.
i did the ME just to see how it would be for one trip 2 years ago.

in the long run, you would be taking a taxi to universal then a taxi to mco to catch the ME.
you could do that for about $100 total. maybe less, depends on the company you use or if you use the mears shuttle they have now.

my 3 leg trip was $137 this year.
for that "extra" cost, i received a free grocery stop of 30 minutes, had someone meet at the luggage carousel, take my bags to the car and i was dropped off at the front of the resort.
with my grocery stop, it took me 35 minutes total to reach my destination.

if you take the bus from the airport, you could be tied up with it for one and a half hours. or if you get lucky, it would only take you an hour for the ME to get you to disney.
the line you have to stand in to process your documents in the lower level at mco, can tie you up for half an hour. then the wait for the bus for the resorts.

they don't pull out unless the bus is full.
each bus is shared with other resorts.
you don't know which resort will be the first or second or third, etc...stop.

i guess if you are wanting an adventure, you could see if it is possible.
do check with disney and ME first since you won't be arriving at mco when you plan to do the ME ride.

good luck
