Hi all. We're doing on first east coast cruise in Dec and figure since we're coming all the way from Alberta we'd make it worth our while and do WDW as well. Is there a shuttle that goes from the resort to the Port of Miami? If not, how have others gotten to Miami? Thanks

The best and cheapest would be to rent a car. You could always look at a 1-way flight from MCO to FLL. Southwest sometimes has good 1-way rates then take a transfer from there. Still, a rental car would probably be the cheapest and still take far less time than Disney transfers to MCO, then to FLL, then to port.

I totally agree with the rental car suggestion.

But if you do not want to drive:

1. Orlando to Port of Miami buses - ESCOT (Cruise Connection @ $64 per person one way) and Florida Express Bus (about $35 per person one way). You have to use Uber or taxi to get to bus.

2. AMTRAK - from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale departs at 10:20am and 1:04pm. You have to use Uber or taxi to get to/from train.

3. Shared Shuttles from many small companies - avoid!

4. Private shuttles - could cost upwards of $600

5. Flights - may not be cheap

One word of caution with Amtrak though. You have no control if something happens. We had a 2 hour Amtrak ride that took 10 hours. My brother got stuck for 10 hours because of a car accident that blocked/damaged tracks. If you drive, you have plenty of options for detours putting you into some control. The good thing is you have 2 main highways down to Miami with many options to exit and hop to another.
