WOW...$360.00 for 4 adults and 2 children to get to the ship and back from POR. :sad2:
This is using transfers from DCL.
Any suggestions.?
Thank,

Hi! :flower: :flower:

I'm using a limo/towncar from FL tours. It is $355.00 from MCO to Yacht Club to Port back to MCO. I'm not sure how many people the limo holds and I'm pretty sure the towncar won't hold you all but you may want to check into it.

Since it looks like you are traveling from WDW, I am not sure if this would work or not, but we used a 1-day car rental to get to the port and it was MUCH cheaper than Disney transfers. Depending on how long your stay at WDW is, it might still be cheaper to rent a car and have it for your stay and then drive to the port. I believe Budget, Avis and Hertz all have shuttles to the ship from their Coco Beach drop-off locations (We used Budget). If you want to rent another car on your return, they also run shuttles back to their office and you can rent another car.

I think the only car rental on site at WDW is Alamo and I don't think they have a shuttle, but you could look into a 1-day rental to drive to the port and then a taxi from Alamo to the ship....

As littlemuffin just said, there is always the towncar/limo option - that could be convenient since you can schedule the exact times to travel and for the size of your group would probably be cheaper than DCL transfers.

Good luck - there are a lot of options!,

We arrived the night before our cruise and rented a car with Budget at the airport, dropped it off at their location near the port and took the shuttle. We then took the shuttle to Budget after the cruise picked up another car, went back to Orlando and flew out the next morning, dropping the car at the airport. The total price for the rental cars was ~$60. Very easy and can go at your own pace. Highly suggest it, if possible in your situation.

We used Southern Elegange Limo service from MCO to the Port and back for $290. We had 2 adults and 4 kids - kids loved it. Dh thought it was very relaxing and has decided that that is the way to go from now on!

I just got a quote yesterday from Tiffany towncar for transport from BCV to port, 5 people(2 adults, 3 kids) in a van for $120(plus tip). We've used towncar service before from the airport and it is very convenient. We are going to rent a van from Avis on the return so we have flexibility on the day we get back in. Best a could find was a minivan for $79 (rent at port and return to MCO).

There is also a car rental at the Dolphin/Swan, I think it is a National. There are a few in the DTD area - DH would take the bus to DTD and then walk to get the car and then drive back to the resort and get us (usually did this the night before coming home). If you are really considering a rental I would go to Dave's site (http://www.dcltribute.com) and take a look at the rental agencies he has listed as being close. I bet someone on the Transportation board might know the rental agencies by DTD.

We booked with absolute Limousine Service and they are picking us up from the resort in a limo and returning us to a resort in Orlando for $310 and that is 4 adults. We decided against using the hire car as we thought we may not have enough room for luggage and want to arrive in style.

I have heard Artsshuttle.com is pretty reasonable. Haven't used him myself, but he has vans that can accomodate all of you for a decent price. Good luck.

We used FL Tours both times we cruised and a few time to Disney. It was much cheaper and we drove right past one of the buses of fellow cruisers soon to meet us in the terminal.

That is what we did too.. it was fast, easy and inexpensive..

Another vote for Souther Elegance...we booked a limo through them...and had a wonderful experince. Would rebook with them with out a second thought. The drivers were nice and professional, the limo itself was BRAND NEW...and beautiful. The perfect way to start the cruise...and the perfect way to end a wonderful vactaion.

We found the DCL system flawless.
Never done the limo or van thing, but did see a lot of folks wandering around the port asking "are you my limo?"

Never rented a car either, the LAST thing I want to do is hassel with renting a car, returning a car, and getting to the port on a vacation, even if it is cheaper.

I was on vacation from the minute I got off the plane, to the minute I got back on 8 days later. Disney took care of me from the minute I arrived in Orlando to the minute I left.

have you considered trying to get a rental car off of Priceline? It is only a 45 minute drive from MCO to Port Area. Hard to believe they charge that much for a limo service for such a short drive.

I know Enterprise Car Rental offers a program where they will pick you up at your location and bring you to their storefront so you are able to get the rental car and they do drop off as well. Good Luck!
