Our first day we arrive to Orlando airport at 930am so I was thinking we would get our Mears transfers to the Royal Pacific Resort and check-in and leave our bags as our room won't be ready and then possibly find a way to downtown disney for that day.....

Anyone know if this is possible and how I can find out about it? We just have Mears booked for return MCO transfers and are not booking a car rental.

We have 3 day park hopper universal passes and I was thinking we'd do the Fri/Sat/Sunday.

We stayed at the HRH and went to DTD and a couple of other places one day during our last visit. We rented a car at the hotel. Hertz had a desk right in the main lobby. Not sure if the have something similar at the RPR.:)

Hey.....car rental is a great idea.
What I think we will do is.....get a Hertz car rental at orlando airport when we arrive and drive to the hotel and check in....then drop our bags and head to downtown disney. Our flight arrives at 930am so we can still get to the hotel drop our bags and drive to downtown disney for the day.
The only thing is.....I have no idea if this is a good plan or not.
Is it a hard drive to do.....would I get lost easily?
Also.....what about the drive from Universal (RPR) to downtown disney....is that difficult?
I figure then we will come back and drop the car off at the Hertz at Hard Rock and we're good.

anyone see any issues with this plan?
I just booked it online with hertz and there doesn't seem to be any extra charge....it's 49.00 usd for the day total.....

We were going to use Mears for return transfers which were 116.00 usd for the family......so half of that is 59.00......we'd still be saving using the car rental.....well not saving cause we'd have gas and tolls to pay but still.....

Traveling from Disney to Universal by car is not hard, BUT why not just head over to citywalk? I'd be too tired after an early morning flight to mess with going over to Disney. Just take the boat or short walk over to CityWalk and shop a bit, have lunch then then you could head back to the RPR pool for a swim. By that time your room should be ready and you didn't have to mess with driving and renting a car.

yeah it might be alot easier and less stressful to just head to citywalk....I dont even know what's there....is it like downtown disney?
Are there lots of shops and places to eat there?

.....I was concerned about having enough to do for the 4 days there....

Yes...there are plenty of restaurants and shops to explore as well as some great nightclubs. CityWalk is more geared towards adults than children but there are some carnival games kids can play. You could also enjoy a movie at the AMC theater or go to the Blue Man Group show.

You'll be fine with 4 days. The three park days are perfect with one day at each park and the third day to go back and redo the favorites. Universal is all about a relaxing vacation vs Disney's go, go, go. Go to CityWalk and shop that first day http://www.universalorlando.com/OverviewPages/Shops/atcitywalk.aspx then grab lunch at Hard Rock Cafe, Bubba Gumps, NBA City, or Margaritaville (our favorites). Then head back to your resort and chill by the pool. You'll be stress freee and ready to hit the parks the next day. :goodvibes
