I booked 7 seats on TransMeridian and would like to know if anyone has any experience with these flights. I'd like to know your thoughts on this airline. Also, what services did you use to get to WDW and what was the cost? Thanks! :sunny:

I don't know how often they schedule flights out of that airport but I had a travel agent tell me that they have booked people on Transmeridian out of our regional airport about 80 miles west of Chicago, and when they've shown up they were told that they didn't sell enough seats so the plane wouldnt' be flying. They put them on their next flight but here that next flight doesn't leave for 3 days. If they have a couple of flights scheduled each day you're probably safe, if not you might want to check and see how often the scheduled flights actually fly.

I asked that question a week or so ago, you can go back a few pages to see the responses I got. They were positive! We too are looking into Transmeridian, I wish I had booked 10 days ago when the price was $79 each way, now (as of yesterday) $99! They also recently started flying out of Harrisburg International, which is where we would fly from. I was also looking into transportion from Orlando Sanford Airport to WDW. If we book them I think we will do a rental car.

Good luck, since you are going before us, please post your experience with TM or pm me!!

Thanks,
Tess

Tess, i'm sorry for not mentioning that the rate goes up fast, they advertise $79 but after i chose my tickets and seats, they flew up to $139.00 a seat,so i'm not sure how many they have at that price, remember to use mousesavers for car rental codes, we are using Dollar but "american coach" is now serving Sanford, you will love it, both Allentown and Sanford are very small and relaxed..

Thanks for the replies. I was able to get the $79 rate each way, but, I know I was checking rates daily and many of the seats for July are up to $99. I'm happy I booked yesterday. We've always flown from Avoca, but, Allentown is only about 60 miles from me so the savings is well worth it. I also like the direct flight and we already have our seat numbers. I can also leave here about 10 in the morning, stop for lunch and be at the airport in plenty of time. I did book an extra night since the flight doesn't arrive until 5:20, but, I won't complain about that. ;)
I also am thinking of using American Coach, if we can't find a better deal. I hope you all have a positive experience and Tess, I will let you know how my trip goes. :sunny:

Leanne, I will be looking forward to your trip report. Have a magical trip! :sunny:

Patio is there a special reason why you have Mulan? Just curious there are alot of us China Moms (Adopted little girls) out there!

We will be flying Transmeridiean from Allentown to Sanford on Monday. We booked 5 seats for $950.

We will be using Quicksilver and roundtrip transportation to and from the airport is $210....we will be splitting the cost with the rest our "party". There will be 8 of us so we need a 10 passenger van.

I hope we don't encounter any problems with our flight on Monday.

Tess- I chose Mulan because I have jet black hair and the way she's smiling reminds me of myself. :sunny:
Loops- Please let me know all about your trip when you get back. Have a magical trip! :sunny:

We are flying Transmeridian.......Harrisburg PA to Sanford. I wanted a non-stop to Orlando or Sanford .....and from Harrisburg.....it was an easy desision. Only one other airline flys to Orlando and even the layover flights were a MUCH more expensive than Transmeridian. A nonstop from "us airways" whom also flys out of Harrisburg was about 3-4 times the price!!!
The rates from Transmeridian vary due to holiday or heavy travel days. You CAN get rates for $79. each way. For our family of 5, the roundtrip cost was $979. TOTAL with taxes and fee's. At the times we are traveling we were able to come up with $89. and $109. each way. Total of $198. roundtrip per person. I thought we did VERY good. You can pretty much count on airfare to go UP in price, not down. So book as soon as you can.
The post about not flying because of a lack of passengers scares me! Can they really do this? My non refundable airfare is a done deal. I didnt remember reading anything like canceling flights due to lack of passengers in the fine print! PLEASE tell me they CANT do it!That would really screw up the vacation plans!
I am probably just worrying for nothing , right?

We've used TMA out of the Rockford Regional Airport (Illinois)into Sanford and love it. TMA is a smaller plane but they service good boxed breakfasts and dinners (we didn't do any lunch times) and are efficient and personable. Once we landed at Sanford, we had a limo from Happy Limo waiting and were on the road to ASMo in about 15 minutes--baggage claim and all. We arrived at the resort in one hour. The rates were about $198 per person total so we were pleased with that.
I do book 6 months in advance over their website and get a 5% discount. click on the sanfordairport.com website and look over their ground transportation options. There's everything from taxi to limo. We will avoid Orlando International/Ohare in Chicago at all costs, so Sanford/TMA is our team from now on. TMA's web is iflytma.com. At Ohare we would regularly sit for half a day with flight delays, so an on-time flight is a real treasure.

TMA is a charter airline. That does not mean they are any less safe, but... they don't have some of the same rules other airlines do.

So... if they cancel a flight for any reason you are really stuck. Bascially you wait on them to find a plane and put you on it or get a refund. They do not have any internline agreements where you would get transferred to SW or USAir etc...

However, your money is in escrow and they can't touch it until they fly you so they are motivated to get you on the plane.

I am bumping this up to see if anyone has any experiences they want to report. We are flying TMA Rockford to Sanford on June 5. We have Happy Limo booked to take us to the hotel.

We flew Transmeridian from Allentown to Sanford about 2 weeks ago. It was the best experience we've had. We were pleased with the airline and Sanford was a nice quiet airport.....smaller then MCO, so it was easier to get around and not very crowded. It was a short walk to the luggage pick up. We used Quicksilver to transport us to Disney and they were waiting by the luggage pick up and the van was right outside the door waiting for us. If there is anything else you would like to know let me know and I'll try to answer your questions for you.

Galenamom - We just got back from Las Vegas and used TMA out of Rockford. All I can say is YES! It was sooo nice to be able to park right near the door and not pay for parking. The airport is very easy to use. Its basically a large room, with an easy time at security check in. We absolutely would fly again. Looking into next spring to Sanford.

We did call a few weeks and then a few days before the flight just to make sure they sold enough seats, that would have given us enough time to find another airline if we needed to.

A nice thing my Mom did for us was upgrade to first class on the return flight. It was only $50 per person. I know when $$ is tight this may not be an option, but considering the upgrade price on other airlines this was great!

Hope this helps.

We are flying TMA from Harrisburg to Sanford on Christmas day. Arrived at choosing that airline through a nightmare with Travelocity. On 5/2 I booked 6 seats on the TMA flight at a cost of $175.90 per person plus Travelocity's fee of $30. Travelocty emailed me a confirmation which stated that our ticket #'s would be assigned shortly. On 5/8 I called TMA to get our ticket #'s. They had NO record of our reservaton. So I called Travelocity. Got to talk to someone in Pune, India. She explained that when Tavelocity tried to book there were no seats left at that fare, so they didn't book.I asked when they were going to let me know that. She suddenly had some problems with the language. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me that the only thing I could do now was book directly with TMA. When I called TMA all they had left were seats for $261.00 each. The reservation agent at TMA implied that they had seats for $221.00 on Tuesday if I had just called earlier. But how was I to call earlier when I thought I had reservations through Travelocity? Guess how often I plan to use Travelocity in the future!!

Thanks for the reassuring information, everyone--and for the suggestion to call and make sure the flight is sold enough. I will do that.

marty, what a bad story! Actually, I am surprised that Travelocity books TMA.
