so as the topic says. i have a question. i am a feminine leaning genderfluid person; whom happens to physically be masculine. would it cause issues if i wished to dress fem at disney world? its my first time going in august, and i was sincerely hoping to use it as an excuse to figuratively let my hair down and try to let my girly side out for a bit; especially since the holoween event is also around the time of my trip; but i wouldnt wanna go and get all excited and order a dress and such for it if i'd get tossed for effectively cross dressing, due to once again, not really being able to pass as my preferred gender ID. can i please ask kindly for advice?

i appreciate that. but to reiterate. I'm talking a full on dress; like not "rainbow outfit thats still for the visually presenting gender" (no offense or assumptions meant, but just trying to be clear i.e pants and shirt for guys/dress for girsls) i mean i wanna go and have as fem as an outfit as i can put together. I'm not that concerned with people throwing looks, but i just wanna be sure the park itself wouldnt toss me. (..for the money involved in such a trip, i am sure thats a fair concern?)

I don't think it'll be an issue at all. Disney is very accepting of orientation and gender identity expression, generally speaking.

The CM checking in guests at one restaurant on our last trip was clearly a transgender woman wearing a feminine CM costume.

If not attending the MNSSHP, daytime makeup, hairstyle and clothing should be no issue at all, restraining your glamour-gal impulses in favor of girl-next-door. :)

For the MNSSHP, flaunt that Jessica Rabbit look and have a fabulous time. :D

I'm a genderfluid person as well who presents as male but dresses feminine most of the time. When I was at the parks three weeks ago, I had no issues at all wearing a dress, so I can't imagine you would either.

I’m sorry you feel that way, but no I don’t believe they wouldn’t prevent you from entry based on how you dress. Otherwise it goes against their fifth key. Enjoy it, be yourself

eh, i am a very cautious person. i figure there's less "offensive" things than a 3 hundo plus guy in a feminine outfit, but when the downside is losing out on a 1000$+ plan, it pays to ask around first so i dont figuratively shoot myself in the foot. thank you all for the advice. i'm going to plan to have two (three counting my costume intended for the haloween event~) outfits on hand. dress; more discrete but still fem outfit; and whatever im doing for costume. leaning on a minnie. simple but still able to do cutely~

I’ve been curious about a true answer for this question as well since I am planning my first trip to DW soon and like others have said here, the cast members seem to happy to engage with everybody regardless of presentation. One of the folks I follow on TikTok who posts a lot from Disney World has a similar situation being physically more masculine but dressing in more traditionally feminine clothing. Their interactions with the characters are cast members are great.

@Grandsword I've been thinking about this post as I came across it while scrolling late one night and I was just wondering, obviously the answer to this question is very individual and not every person who is genderfluid would have the same answer... but for you personally who is worried about wearing a more feminine leaning outfit at the park.... if another guest saw you and saw you looked a bit self conscious, would it make you feel better or worse for them to draw attention and say "Hey I love your outfit!" just something I was wondering about

i mean depends on context. if seem genuine, i'd happily take the complement and feel a bit better about it. if they seem more like just trying to be nice, i'll take the complement but still feel wary. ..its not that im trying to be a downer, its just that self esteem is a hard issue for me.

My husband, who is genderfluid, goes to disney all the time with makeup, nail polish, and wearing my skirts. this was when he had a full beard.

I have a number of genderfluid friends who dress fem all the time in the parks, and they have never had a problem. As long as all the bits are covered (you can't go topless or without covering your tush, no matter your gender presentation), Disney itself is fine with you wearing whatever clothing you want.

A couple of my genderfluid and trans friends prefer to use the companion restrooms, rather than go into a gendered bathroom and with dealing with ignorant guests.

To be honest,.. nobody will say boo because the masses are trained to ignore it in todays world.
I’m just saying the truth, not my thoughts.
but yes, people will snicker and you will be the topic of laughter at the dinner table later on.
Again, all is well as it happens, but behind the scenes are a different story.

Just telling it as it is.

Most people are genuinely respectful but you are right - there is no shortage of stupid, hateful people as well.

As for them I don’t know if it’s that they’re “trained to ignore it” as much as they know they can’t show their true colors outside of whatever bigoted hayseed town they come from. They know they’re wrong so they snicker about when they are alone like bratty little kids keeping a secret from the adults.

But I’m sure OP is well aware of all that.

Imagine being so nosy and gossipy you go home to the dinner table at night and talk about what others wore that day. LOL. Safe to say sensible people don't do that.

Now I'm here all worried if I should be wary of a bunch of gossipy weirdos in their most perfect outfits talking about what's wrong with my costume while they're eating dinner. (Disclaimer: I'm not).

Honestly, it’s a changing world. It’s somewhat hard to criticize an older person who was brought up differently. I don’t think it has to do with a “hayseed” town. I’d like to believe I wouldn’t be one of those who would snicker, but I am from an older generation.

Would it phase me to see a guy dressed like a woman? I probably would be a bit taken back, but would not think any less of that person.
Is that wrong, or just human nature for a baby boomer? I don’t know.

One thing is certain, and that is I would treat that person, if I met them, exactly like I would treat anyone else. I’m not sure what thoughts would go through my internal mind.

I’m just trying to be honest, not patronizing, not trying to make myself look good, not trying to sugar coat.
Honestly, I just don’t know what my internal feelings would be.
I hope you can respect that.
