Facebook says something about May 2nd so I expect that will be when they give us the opeing date! We aren't there until the middle of August so I'm looking forward to this ride! Does is have express? Hope so as we are staying at the HRH and so looking forward to the express pass!

Just looked at the USF Facebook page. According to the page, and they have the pic of Megatron on the Fairwinds bldg, they are going to announce the grand opening date tommorow May 2nd.

With everything the are doing, between the viral campaign for Downtown Orlando and the site you can sign up at; I'm gonna say Memorial Day Weekend, or at the latest June 15th. I think they want it up by July 4th and want to make sure it's broken into by then.

We'll be at Universal May 12th-14th, but will be at WDW through May 20th. Sure wish I knew if there was chance for soft openings. We'd make a special trip back over there for it. Sounds like we are going to barely miss it though. I did the exact same thing when the year Harry Potter world opened. Reading that they were planning a spring opening, I booked a trip for the second week of May, thinking it'd be open by then. Of course HP didn't open until June. Then we did the same thing again last Nov, with the Be Our Guest restaurant over at WDW. It opened the week after we came home from down there. lol

Oh well, we'll be back down there in Dec and can catch Transformers then. We'll also be back next late April/early May. I wonder what the chances are of the new HP expansion being open then?

OHHHHHHH you are all going to LOVE the TRANSFORMERS ride!!!!

I just spent a weekend in Hollywood at US!

We rode Transformers over and over again!

It's fabulous! Fun fun fun!

Also BUMBLEBEE and OPTIMUS were out when we happened upon the ride!

They are AMAZING!!!!

How do soft opening work? We will be there from June 12-15. What are our chances of being to able to ride it? My DS is soo hoping to see it. Thanks for any input.

Soft openings are completely random and w/o warning. They can last all day or just an hour. You'll have to keep checking around the attraction when you're there to see what's going on.

During soft openings (ie the ride is open before the grand opening) the ride may experience long downtimes and may open and close several times during the day as they are still making minor adjustments to the ride and getting the staff more experience.

There are no official announcements about soft openings and it is just all luck whether it is open while you are there.

I'd say your chances are excellent of riding.
