Transfers from New York airport?

Hi - my wife and I may find ourselves convincing each other to do an October New York cruise. We'll see. As we plan it, we could either drive to NY (about a 6 hour drive) or we could fly in. If we were to fly, it would be a bit under $400 total. If we drove, we'd have to pay about $175 +/- for parking. What I can't find out is the cost of a Disney airport transfer to the ship (from JFK probably). We wouldn't use a 3rd party or a taxi - we'd want our luggage to be fully transferred plus want to be part of the "magic" earlier. Anyway, I searched high and low and no luck with data. My next step is to call Disney but I bet someone out here knows. So, any thoughts about transfer costs?

We are leaning toward driving, as we don't mind the drive. However, I really don't like driving in Manhattan and getting into and out of their tiny, tiny gararges. If we flew, it would cost us $XX.xx more but there would be less stress. If transfers are $35 per person each way, we'd have to ignore the temptation of flying and save money by driving.

Thanks for your help! Also, sorry if I posted this in the wrong place ... this message board is almost as confusing to me as Manhattan :-)

We have reservations for the New York Canadian coast cruise this October. The cost for 2 people from airport to port to airport we were charged is $180.00. At this point we do not have a airport named because I was just getting the basics covered when I made the reservations way back when.

A few months ago I added a hotel stay the night before the cruise and the transfer cost bumped up to $270 for 2 people to cover airport - hotel - port - airport.

The hotel that is booked through DCL as part of our reservation is New York Marriott Marquis. Pricey for one night but since we are traveling with the very senior in-laws (and their wheelchairs) it is easier on DH and I that we know DCL handles everything else so we can concentrate on the folks.

Not sure we are actually going to do this trip due to a couple of things but I really want to. Whenever we travel with the folks we book everything through DCL. If it's just DH and I then we sometimes book our hotel on our own.

Hope this helps.

FWIW, when I priced parking at the port, it was $280 for 7 nights. The parking garage itself is fairly easy in which to park, and the pier is relatively close to the Lincoln Tunnel (not sure where you are coming from). That said, approaching the pier can sometime take awhile due to traffic.

We live in NJ, and I have it on my to-do list to research a van service that will provide a car seat. Even if it is a little more than self-parking, I will opt to get the van service.

You might want to look at flying into Newark Liberty Airport. There are buses or trains into the city and then a relatively short Taxi ride the rest of the way.

My wife and I take the train in and walk to the terminal, so it can't be too far.

Just my opinion, but if it's only a 6 hour drive, I would drive it and pay to park. The convenience is unmatachable and cheaper than flying -- just walk off the ship and right to your car on the top deck and off you go. No transfers, no waiting for transportation and, most importantly, no airport security or restrictions. We were able to bring our wine and water in our carry-ons and all the souvenirs and liquor home that we wanted!
