Transferring with ECV and Luggage During Split Stay

Why not put all your essentials in your backpack and transfer the rest?

Personal preference. If you read my original post again, you'll see that I know this is an option, but by taking my bags with me, I can check in early (leaving my bags in luggage services), enjoy EMH at Epcot and "...I’d know my bags would be there and available, plus I’ve read enough stories on The DIS about transfers gone bad...".

Did I tell you about the time i moved from one side of a resort to the other, and they mislocated my luggage until somewhere between 8 and 11 PM?

Oooh, no; that would be so frustrating. I rest my case on my reasons for wanting to transfer my bags myself.

I just returned from my WDW trip, so I thought I would post a quick follow-up about my experience with the accessible Minnie Van.

The day before my transfer I called the Minnie Van telephone number (407-828-3500) and explained I would like to be picked up by an accessible Minnie Van about 7:15-7:30 AM the following day. I was told that for an accessible Minnie Van, I should call 45 minutes before my desired pick-up time. Minnie Van service begins at 6:30 every morning, so this coincided well with the time to make the phone call for the time I wanted to be picked up.

I called for the accessible Minnie Van as I left my room at POFQ, about 6:35. I went to the lobby and checked out from POFQ (waiting for a several minutes in a short line) and then only had a brief wait in the lobby, perhaps 5 minutes, before the van arrived at about 7:15. The loading of the scooter and my bags went without a hitch. I transferred to a passenger seat for the ride, although I had the option of making the ride sitting on the scooter. The driver was very friendly and eager to help.

The total cost from POFQ to BCR was $23.51. I tipped the driver well because she did all the work of loading/unloading the ECV and my bags.

This was a very good experience for me and if the need arises, I will use it again. For me, the ease and speed of the transfer was worth every penny spent.
