Transferring to a Different Cruise

Has anyone had to transfer to a different DCL cruise? We are scheduled to embark on November 27th but just found out that my father-in-law's cancer has spread and we are uncertain about going on that date. While our insurance covers death in the family, it does not appear to cover serious illnesses (except for those on the cruise). My question is whether we can transfer to a different DCL cruise if we are past our 60-day cut-off.
 
So sorry to hear the news. My family had been planning a spring 2005 cruise with my mother, to celebrate her beating cancer. Unfortunately, she didn't win the battle. I was easily able to transfer the money to another cruise (to celebrate my wedding anniversary and focus on a positive event) but we're well within the "rules" for doing so. I would encourage you to call DCL and explain your situation. Their customer service has always been terrific, and I believe they will make this change for you if it is at all possible.

I was able to transfer a date with no penalty less than 30 days out in 2002. We booked at 58 days out and something came up at work. For that cruise we booked through DCL direct. They said no problem since none of the sailings for that month (Sep) were sold out.
 
Thank you so much! I will contact my TA first then DCL to see what can be worked out. With nothing certain right now, it is difficult to make a final decision on cancelling. Thank you for your help.
