Transferring question

If I have a February use year and someone has a December use year And I want to transfer Points

Let’s say it’s February 2021 points that I want to transfer to them

My understanding is that they would not be good till December 2021 for them is that correct?

Would it be possible for them to borrow from December 2021 or that would be the absolute earliest they could use them is December 2021?

Transferred points retain their original home resort and use year. If someone receives a transfer of Feb 2021 points, they can be used for a reservation with a check-in date on or after 2/1/2021 (and checkout on or before 2/1/2022). They can also be banked for use with a check-in date on or after 2/2/2022 (and checkout on or before 2/1/2023).

When I transferred some points from last year recently the lady on the line said that that’s not how it works and I was wondering if maybe she was misinformed

She told the person I was transferring it to that they would only start during their use year

I called DVC and they said exactly what you said I got misinformation last time

You definitely got misinformation. You cannot borrow from transferred points.

The reservation must start on or after the 1st of the UY date of the transferred points, in this case, on or after Feb. 1st, 2021.
