I bought my DVC resale (WBR) while my brother bought direct (CCV).. I was wondering if I transfer a given use year points to him would he be able to book Riviera using my points?

Transferred points retain their home resort, UY and any restrictions. If your BRV resale was purchased after the resale restriction went into effect regarding RIV, then then answer would be no.

No, points retain their status of being resale vs. direct, just as they retain their UY and home resort. Being transferred to a different membership doesn't change any of that.

If he were to transfer his points to your account, you would be able to book RIV using the transferred points.

I bet this is more of a "try it and see what happens" scenario. I doubt Disney's system is sophisticated enough to handle this automatically, and I bet it's entirely up to the person on the other end of the line. You might "get away" with something sometimes.

The system is set up to not allow points that are not valid at RIV to be used at RIV...even when transferred. There was even a report once that someone with transferred points could still not book RIV because their own membership was not eligible..it only had resale points...but there was never confirmation if this is true or not.

But, restricted point contracts will not show up as an option for RIV...when I had both in my account, there was no way for me to use the restricted BLT to book RIV.
