Just a heads up for those that transfer points. I just completed my first transfer and the Member Services CM told me that they are no longer allowed to transfer points without both parties on the phone. He said this is a specific new policy they were given about two weeks ago. As usual I don't know how true this is, it was just what I was told so I thought I'd give people a heads up since wait times are long and I'd hate for you to have to hang up and retry only to be told the same thing.

Thanks. I was told that last year and then called back and someone else did it no problem without the other person.

I think one problem with online is someone types in the wrong member number and it could be an issue.

At least with a call, both people are verify the info and they have a record of the phone call.

But they did update to see and use now so maybe it will happen!!

Every single time I have transferred points to someone else’s account i have done it with a 3 way call. Because they were paying me their money I wanted them to feel more comfortable doing so.

So when they ask the security challenge question, the other party can hear the answer... what is there to prevent that caller to call back later? This would open up identity theft can of worms. I would not want to give out my SSN or date of birth or even my address to a transferee.

So now two people have to wait on the phones together for 2 hours for someone at DVC to answer the phone.

Well, if one member calls while the other is on standby (not connected), then that member can wait to start a 3-way until an actual person picks up the phone at DVC.

Seems like a waste of time. When transferring point to a member I give them the account and member name to ensure they match up. What is the receiving member being on phone there for, to say no I don't want those points transferred!

Assuming it is true then I think it's mostly to reduce the number of transfers. They're already weird weird about transfers by not making the process easier and available online (the process itself and also using the points).

My other thought is that there is at least one rental broker that facilitates point transfers and I wouldn't be surprised if wrong name and member number was given to person transferring. Disney can catch an error in member number if it doesn't match a name, but if "Dave" is supposed to receive AKL points and "Sally" BWV points, it's possible Dave's member number and name are given to BWV owner who doesn't know any better because he or she isn't working directly with the transferee.

Alternatively, where a transferor has multiple contracts and member numbers and is transferring points, he or she may have multiple deals with multiple people for different contracts and then accidently similarly transfer to the wrong person.

The most one could have is limited by membership and not contracts. I have 4 contracts but only 2 memberships. I am limited to two per UY to other owners

The maximum any one person could do in the same UY would be 8 if they owned a membership for every UY.

I just had a member transfer me points on Monday and had the exact same experience. We both had to be on the line.

Actually the person who transferred to me was nice enough to do the waiting first, then when the MS person answered initiated the 3-way call to me. We did have to make sure that I knew to answer the phone though.

I think the security challenge question was just asking for my address and phone number. That is something the other party had anyway.

Do you find it difficult to have two UY?

Interesting. We are new members and have never done a transfer. Was looking at maybe doing an Aulani transfer through a broker since we are planning a trip during a holiday week and want to book 11m out.
Wonder how it works with a broker doing a transfer?

No because I never use them together. I book August to March trips on my August UY which has RIV and SSR. I book March to August on my Dec UY which has BLT and SSR.

I will use BLT for Dec trips when I go, but since we always split stay, using two memberships doesn’t matter,

The only true month that overlaps is March and again, if I want to use points from both, I just book whole nights on each and link if it ends up being same resort. Like this year, I booked one night at VGF 1 bedroom on one and the next night on the other. MS noted it was continuing and we did not need to switch rooms,

That's a great system! Thank you for sharing!
