I'll be booking my 3d Disney Cruise in October while onboard in order to receive the discount, room credit. As a Costco member I'm definitely considering transferring my ressie, since I read so much about the better price.

Anyone have experience where the price was further reduced after you transferred the reservation?

Also, did the onboard credit transfer as well?

Yes, Costco can further reduce your price. The amount depends on the base (before port charges and taxes) price you paid for the cruise. It could be as little as a couple hundred dollars or like in our case for the 14 day reposition cruise, over $1300.

I don't know if the onboard credit transfers as well, sorry! Hopefullly someone else can help you out with that question.

We just transferred the 14 day westbound in May and a 7 day eastern in November that we booked on our last western cruise. Transferring the 14 day saved us $650 or so. Transferring the 7 day saved us $200 or so. DCL assures Costco Travel that we WILL get the $200 credit for the onboard booking.

I read about the Costco savings here on one of these threads and thanks to this board that's $800 dollars straight into my pocket. $850 from the cruises I have booked less the $45 Costo membership fee. Once again I save hundreds...thanks to the posters who take the time to share their knowledge.

Does anyone know if you can transfer to Costco from DCL after you've paid the deposit to DCL?

Thanks!

Yes, you can. That is exactly what I did, and saved $422.

Thanks Renee! I'll call them today!

I had originally booked with DCL last Wednesday for a Cat 9 for 3 adults at $5487.67 for the 14 day Repo cruise Eastbound - CA-FL.

After hearing all the great things about Costco (we are members) I just called them this morning and was able to transfer my ressie (I had already paid DCL the deposit) and they brought my cruise price down an additional $449.00 for a total cabin price of $5,036.67. That works out to only $1,678.89 per person for a 14 night cruise!!!! Awesome!!!

I did not take insurance, transfers or air.

I explained my situation and told her that I already had booked directly with DCL and would love to transfer my ressie if the price was better....she gave the current price as of today for a Cat 9 for 3 adults which was $6,746.67. I told her I did better booking directly with DCL. She called DCL and we had a 3 way call and I gave DCL my ressie number. The DCL CM broke down the price for the Costco TA and took the TA info for the ressie and then hung up.

Costco TA then deducted $449.00 from my original DCL price. Kept my same ressie # and cabin #.

Not bad for a phone a call....and I only had to wait for 3 minutes on hold. Costco travel is open 7:00 am to 5:30 pm M-F PST. Their number is 1-877-849-2730.

I just checked DCL website for Cat 9, 3 adults and they are showing a price of $7,382.67

She told me she had been getting many call for transferring of ressies from DCL to them.

Good luck!

You were a great help! Thank you for the information! I will call them soon!

I did not get a rate as good as yours from DCL because I called alittle later in the day so I will gladly take any discounts I can get!

Well, I just got off of the phone with Costco and after being on hold for 20 min. they told me I had to notify DCL first and have them note that I was transferring my reservation.

Hmmm....so if anyone else is thinking of transferring just a word of warning....you might want to call DCL first and then call Costco so you don't have to be on hold only to be told to call back after notifying DCL first.

I called this am to transfer my ressies. I was on hold for 15 minutes, but she was able to transfer my ressies without any problem (or any additional phone calls to DCL  ). I saved almost $1300 on my $13,000 cruise.

Call Costco back. When I called them, I was told I had to give DCL a special phone number for Costco in order to transfer the ressie. Then Costco just decided it would be easier for a three-way call instead. So that is how I got mine transferred.

Same with me...the Costco TA just made a 3 way call with me and Disney for the transfer..

I guess with anything the saying "your mileage may vary" holds true....it all depends on who you get on the line.

Wish me luck! I'm calling Costco back! I think that would be the easiest way to get it all transfered via a 3 way call.

I'll keep you posted!

I was not able to call again last night so I called just a while ago and was only on hold about 5 min. but yes I was able to transfer it while I was on the phone with Costco! And saved $526.00. It was well worth the waiting. Thanks so much for your information. Look forward to seeing you on the 'boards'!:wave2:

Just an FYI- The Costco TA was wonderful and very helpful. She priced air just to give me an idea of what it would be and she found air from Denver to MCO and from LAX $412.87 with DCL and that includes a comp room the night before the cruise and the transfers which I think is not a bad price at all. And then if we decide to stay a couple of days at Disneyland we would just loose the transfers on that end but still not a bad price for one way air tickets. So I added the air for now and can cancel before final payment if I find something better. I started out with $6607 for 2 adults and a 15 yo in a Cat. 9 gty and now with air, transfers, comp room and insurance it is $6995.00. Not too bad, only $300 plus change from where I started without air.

Better work on that second job search now!

Hi,

I transferred my DCL 14 night eastbound ressie to Costco this morning. It took all of about 5 minutes to save $500.00. The Costco travel agent was very helpful.

Thanks to everyone on this board for the information!!::MinnieMo

Will Costco provide a quote before transferring the res? I don't currently have a membership and they don't have any local stores in my area. So the only reason to get the membership would be to save some extra on the cruise. Would they give a quote before I joined?

When I spoke with the travel agent today, she said she didn't know util the reservation was transferred. She did say if there wasn't any difference we could transfer it back to Disney.

OK here's what I did...
I called Costco Travel (wait time less than 10 min) talked with a great guy (Eathan) and he worked his magic with the rate and did a guestimate of savings for us to be about $376 dollars. He never even called Disney to figure it out. He said "to call DCL and tell them you are wanting to switch your reservation over to Costco Travel". I called DCL and told them what I wanted to do. The agent then made a note on my reservation. I then had to call Costco Travel back. (got LaJoy this time) She put me on hold while she called DCL. By the way DCL is a longer wait time than Costco Travel! She than told me my total price is now $4050.78. Eathan was right on at his guess! We are doing the CA to FL, 1 Adult 1 child(age 4 at sailing) in a reclassified Cat 7. I am so glad I called right away on Wednesday. We couldn't even get on the ship at the lowest level cabin at that price today. (If there was any available)

I guess it depends on who you get, he was also willing to it and gave me a perfect quess at what my saving might be. .
