Transferring a DCL booking to DVC points?

I've posted this on the UK board as well - Is it possible to change a cruise booking from cash to DVC points? I will have a large number of DVC points this year as we are going on the Panama Repo in August and won't be able to stay at WDW afterwards, so wondered if I could use them to pay for the cruise instead.

Just wanted to add that I've paid the deposit, but not the balance.

No, since you have to go through Member Services to do this. They don't have access to existing reservations. Remember, too, that one you use the DVC points to make that cruise reservation the points can no longer be used for DVC lodging. They are reservation points now.

Call MS and ask. I seem to recall others have done this.

My understanding is that you can in some cases. You must call MS and have them coordinate with DCL. DCL must be taking DVC reservations for that cruise. It is technically a cancellation and separate booking but I know others have done so and kept the same cabin.
