Transferred Points - Use Year?

I have a friend I am combining points with for a reservation. She has August use year, BCV, I have April use year, BWV. I am making the reservation for April 2004. She transferred 30 points to my account. MS told me that the transferred points are now April 2003 instead of August 2003 because they turned into my use year! She said they would have to be banked for an April 2004 res, which they are going to do manually and may take a day or two. I thought transferred points retained their original use year?

They are supposed to but the DVC computers are not capable of tracking that. If you really need them to be put into the proper use year, you can call and speak to a manager.

Somthing similar happened to me except it wasn't use year but the home resort that the points were from got mixed up. I learned a lot about the limitations of the DVC computer that day.

MS is correct and it is because of the computer system limitations. The points will also be BWV use year unless you force them to do it manually.

could I transfer points to somebody and they transfer them back to me? Meaning, if I had 150 beach club points and 100 SSR points, could I transfer the 100 SSR points and they transfer them back to me, and I put them in the beach club points, now I have 250 beach club points if I want to use the 11 month window?

This would not work unless you had two a totally separate BCV contract, not just a SSR add on. You can't transfer out and in in the same use year for the same account. The other issue is that I don't think I've ever seen or heard any information about transferring or borrowing transferred points. There's no exclusion to either of these options other than the one direction per use year so I'd present it's ok otherwise.

I sure hope not! If this were possible, it would provide a way to get around the home resort booking advantage. That would not be right! In the example given, it would be hurting BCV owners who may not be able to get the full advantage of their booking advantage.

Maybe this possibility is one of the reasons why DVC doesn't allow a member to both transfer in and out of an account within the same year. Rather than allow the booking advantage to be compromised, I would prefer that DVC disallow any transferring of points between members if the points were from different home resorts.
