Happy New Year everyone!

I have a question I know one of you can answer. I may need to rent some points next year (DH says studio too small and he fell in love with the 1BR) but was wondering if the points retain their home resort or if they become your resort. Does that make any sense?

For example...if I own at BCV and rent points from someone that owns BWV...when the points are transferred to my account, do they stay BWV or become BCV?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Well, that's a sticky ?????

Points that are transferred are supposed to retain their original home resort, but many have posted that the MS computers are not up to that task, so they will likely take on the home resort of the member they are transferred to.

One caveat. I haven't had any personal experience with this situation, but I'm sure someone who has will correct me if I'm wrong :rotfl: .

Thank you for the reply. Does anyone have personal experience/knowledge with this?

I had pts transferred in today and when I asked about holding their home resort status she said they did.

She did say however that when I call tomorrow to make my ressie that I will need to speak to a manager because they were a transfer. She said when I call the person on the phone will email a manager and they will make the ressie that evening. I will get a confirmation the next day via email.

We will see. I will let you know tomorrow after I call and speak to a manager.

I hope it works out because it would be nice to have my entire ressie for my 2 weeks in Dec. done at the 11 month window! I can't wait, 1 week at BCV followed by a week at BWV.

Thank you. Yes it would be great to have everything at one resort. We're definitely going to be doing an add on after we get our current loan paid off (hopefully around October this year). I would love to get in on the current special but I promised my DH that I would hold off. bummer...

I just wanted to confirm that I was able to start booking at BCV today with transferred pts even though my home resort is BWV.

The CM on the phone was very nice but did not know that you could do this she thought the pts just took on your Use Year but did not retain their home resort status.

Anyway we chatted and right away she said she would check with her supervisor. She then came back and told me what I was told yesterday.

The supervisor will be the one actually making the ressie because it needs an over-ride but it will be fine.

She also made a note on my account that I have indicated my full stay and will be calling day by day and which supervisor has my ressie.

:cheer2:

I had some VB points transferred into my account last March (I do not own at VB) and was able to use those points to make an 11 month VB ressie for Presidents' Day. The rep at MS did need to do it manually and consult with a supervisor, but the points retained home resort (and apparently use year) and I was able to make those 11 month ressies.

I have received point transfers to my account five different times, so I have gained some experience and insight into the process. No transfers yet into our Feb 2006 use-year, but the year is still young. But maybe - just maybe - our 495 points will be enough this year. :)

Thank you everyone for the information. This will help with my planning. My DH really wants to stay in 1BR from now on, instead of studios, and if he's dead set on this, I'll have to either rent points from someone or bug him until he buys some more points for us.
:confused3
