Transferred points now able to book online!

I transferred in BWV points from another UY and purchased OTUP in order to make a reservation this past summer. I don't recall seeing any differentiation between the way they were annotated in my account at the time but I can now see them when I click on Manage Points. Oddly, the OTUP were taken from 2 resorts, VGF and SSR. The VGF points are listed as OTUP Contract # but the SSR is listed as Transferred In Contract #.

Interesting read but it doesn't explain why the SSR points, which were OTUP, comes up as "transferred in" instead of OTUP like the VGC points. It's a moot point as far as my usage is concerned because all of those points have been used. It's just curious.

*Point of interest: I bought the OTUP as part of the MMB program, so that could explain why they came from 2 different resorts but not why the SSR points were "transferred in".

The two resorts with one being marked as OTUP and one being transferred in is because of MMB.

I’m not sure of the reasoning behind it but I assume it is someway to track how many points were given away from the MMB program.

Everyone can buy OTUP and while most people won’t buy 12 it is still possible so they couldn’t just use 12 OTUP purchases to track it. I don’t believe anyone receives transfers from DVC so this would be the easiest way to track it.

I certainly could be wrong but that is my opinion.

this is prob a dumb question. But I'm still newish to DVC. What are transferred points? Like if you have 2 contracts you can transfer points from one to the other?

It's more about members/memberships than contracts. You can use points from multiple contracts together if they are in the same membership. A person can have multiple memberships if they have contracts that don't have exactly the same parameters (outside of resort and number of points). Most common things that require a new member/membership number are a different use year than your previous contracts or a difference in the people on the title of a contract (most common I have seen are parent's putting their children's names on just their direct contract but not their resale contracts so they can get the direct member benefits as well)

So I have 2 memberships because I have 2 different use years (Sept and Feb)

Transfers are the moving of points from one membership to be used in another membership. They show up as a separate different contract on the membership they are transferred to. Transfers can be between totally different people or just between different memberships of the same person.

Thanks for explaining. We have 3 contracts, but they are all the same UY and resort, so it probably doesn't really matter that much for me then. Our initial purchase we got with my sister in law and her husband, and we split the 300 points into 2 150 pt contract in case one of us decided we wanted out. So those have a .0 and a .1 at the end. Then my husband and I bought an additional 150 points later, just us. It has a totally diff contract number, but I think it's the same membership id.

The different titling may mean they are in different memberships.

If you go into My DVC -> My Vacation Points

Is there 1 membership listed there or 2?

If you took advantage of the BOGO free points, then go in differently.
