Hi--Just wondering if anyone knows the protocol behind transfering points or is there a site I can visit to check it out?

Points can be transfered only if they are not banked or borrowed. Holding points are transferable. You can have unlimited transfers in and out per year as long as you and another member are not swapping (i.e. trading points to gain 11 month window). I generally transfer via e-mail (members@disneyvacationclub.com) to end up with written confirmation.

Supply name, address and member number for both parties. Be clear in transfer: I would like to transfer x points from my X (insert resort) contract in the X use year to (insert transferee name).

I also include my phone number if questions or problems.

Good luck
Sandy

hi mkutch. the official list of rules for transfers is buried in your Multi-Site POS booklet on the bottom of page 42.
if you have the booklet that is dated 2002 or later, the rules should be there.

otherwise, the general rules are:
  • transferor can only transfer virgin points (i.e. NOT banked or borrowed points). holding acct points that are virgin points can also be transferred.
  • transferred points are supposed to retain the original home resort and original use year properties of the transferor (key word "supposed to"), but can possibly "change into" the home resort or use year of the recipient due to MS's computer system limitations
  • the recipient of transferred points can choose to bank them, following the banking deadlines of the transferor's use year. recipient may not borrow them. the transfer is also irrevocable.
  • transfers may be requested over the phone first, but must be confirmed in writing via email or fax.
  • you can make outgoing transfers only if you have not accepted any incoming transfers during the same use year. vice versa: you can accept incoming transfers only if you have not made any outgoing transfers during that same use year.
i probably forgot one or two other rules. i had a list somewhere, i'll check it later, but this is what i remembered off the top of my head. hope this helps.
