Hello all - I hope you are all staying warm!

Here's my question. My Uncle has a use year of Feb. in SSR. I have a use year of Feb/March at OKW. We are all going to WDW in November.

Could my Uncle transfer his 08 points needed for a GV to me so I can make the ressie at the 11 month point?

Would I still be able to book an additional 2 bed at OKW at the same time?

There will be about 20 of us going and we want to attempt to stay together at OKW.

Yes, assuming neither you nor your uncle haven't already used up your one transfer for the 2008 use year. You are allowed only one transfer per use yer, either into your account or out of your account but not both.

Your uncles SSR points would not be available at 11 months for an OKW stay. I believe DVC fixed "point morphing" where transferred points took on your home resort after transfer.

Oops! DebbieB is correct. I skipped right over the fact the your uncle's points were SSR points. (I thought you both had OKW points).

FWIW, if getting a GV is important, consider trying to get one at SSR -there are more of them there.
IF you want/need OKW, you could reserve as many of the days as you can with your points, and then reserve the rest at the 7 month mark. Since the weekdays book more quickly than the weekend nights, reserve as many of the weekdays as you can with your points at the 11 month mark.

You could reserve the number of days at OKW with your points and additional days at SSR right now. Then you can try to switch the days at 7 months out. The points difference is considerable for a GV so it may not be your best option. Your other option is to borrow from your next use year and have your uncle transfer the number of points to you so you will have them for the ones you borrowed. You can bank transferred points so although they would be SSR points they would replace your OKW points for that year. The 11 month mark for November was in December so you need to start doing something soon to get a GV if that is what you want. You may also want to look at booking several 2 BR units and maybe a studio or two depending on the makeup of your group and how you want sleeping arrangements to be. A 2BR and a studio sleep twelve and are less points than a GV.

I am a new DVC owner but I looked into this scenario before I purchased. So another option would be to borrow points from your contract so you can use the 11 month window to book (only allowed to borrow points needed for ressie). Assuming you would have enough points available to do so. Then have your Uncle transfer his points to you and you are allowed to bank the transferred points. You are still limited to his point contract Feb Use Year at SSR but another possible option.

Transfering points does not change their stripes. If your uncle sends you SSR points, they will still be SSR points. His SSR points and your SSR points can be used for OKW only at the 7 month window. Also for a November trip you are already well within the 11 month window but cannot call to reserve OKW with those SSR points until April, the 7 month window.

Transferred points may become OKW points but are not supposed to and no way to know untill you do it. You'd be using the one transfer per year for each contract in question. Even if they can't be used at 11 months out there may be some advantages for you to have them in your account. Otherwise you should book any weekdays with your home resort points and hope the weekends are still there 7 months out. You may want to book as much time as you have ponts for SSR in a GV as well as a backup or at least the days you need that you can't reserve at OKW at 11 months out.

If the OP does not have enough OKW points for GV with borrowing, and his uncle sends him enough SSR points for a GV at SSR, can the OP book that at 11 months, although he is not an SSR owner?

Yes, as long as he is using just SSR points...once they are transfered into his account he will have the 11 month booking advantage at SSR.
