When it states that youre allowed one transfer in or out per year..would that be use year of calendar year??? For example our use year is Aug, if we were to do a transfer now would we be able to do another after Aug 1st???

A member can transfer in or out once per UY. So in your case, yes, if you transfer in/out right now, you would be able to do another one after August 1st.

Just remember that points transferred in/out retain their own UY and their own home resort distinction.

technically it's one per UY of the points transferred. Some have had problems in the past if they transferred a UY that had not started yet where that transfer was counting as the one transfer for both this and the next UY, don't know if that issue is still a problem.

I have read a couple of posts where people reported they weren't able to complete a transfer until the UY had started. I couldn't understand that making much sense but perhaps it had something to do with the problem of counting the transfer in the current and next UY?

So, just to clarify - you should be able to complete a transfer for your next UY before it starts as long as you haven't already done one, correct?

But then that brings up another question, and maybe this is why it was only current - what happens with the MF's on the points if it were the next UY? Or is the restriction that the points must at least be from the past or current calendar year so that the MF's are paid. I'm guessing that's what I was missing in the process.

I suspect it's a computer issue. It should be one per UY as that is the rule. For example, I should be able to call and make two transfers today for one contract, one for this UY and one for the next. DVC does not require prepayment of dues to use points, some other systems do.

I have an Aug UY and received a transfer of points in Sept 07 from an Apr 08 UY. In March 07, I transferred out points from my 07 UY. As a result, I think Dean is right that you should be able to do 2 trasnfers on the same day as long as one relates to one UY and the other relates to another UY.

There has always been speculation that there was some limit on how far in advance you could tranfer points, but the prior UY seems to be no problem.

Also, I believe that is has been reported that you cannot be past your UY when you accept points, even if the transferred oints have not yet expired. So someone with a Feb UY could not receive 08 points from some someone with a Dec UY.

Thanks Dean and SuzanneSLO - that helps my understanding of the transfers.
