Transfer reservation to DU or Costco

We tried to get a reservation through DU [and believe me, I know it's not their fault that it didn't happen], but we were successful in getting one through DCL.

Now, after reading the posts, my question is: Will it be more economical to transfer my reservation to DU or Costco? Which, in your opinion would be the most beneficial?

14 more days until WDW!!!:Pinkbounc

I had booked a previous cruise with DU and loved their service. I called DCL on Wed just to find out what the price was on the EB Repo. and couldn't pass the price up and booked it. Then I started reading the boards about Costco beating DCL prices (totally forgot they had a travel co) and I called them Friday and my fare lowered by $782. Now the first quote I got from DCL included ins. this one doesn't supposedly Costco adds your ins. on at the end if you decide to get it (400 for 4 for this cruise). Another thing is that you cannot make payments with them for the cruise either, not sure if DU does that.
This being my first cruise with Costco I cannot tell you about their service. DU on the otherhand has awesome service.

I like Dreams SueEllen is the Best...

Ask for her.... they have a rebate...

for DU, the lower the price, the smaller the rebate. for us, DU couldn't beat the price we got from DCL directly, but Costco managed to lower it by $176. of course, we already had probably the cheapest price for our category from DCL: $2767.67 for 2 adults 1 child in cat 12 (no insurance or transfers), so Costco reduced it to $2591.67.

I'm pretty sure that you can make payments on your cruise to Costco. While waiting on hold, I thought I heard a phone prompt about making a payment using the same credit card you put the deposit on either by phone or giving them permission in an email(the prompt gives you the email address) to use the same credit card # they have on file. If you want to put it on a new credit card, you have to wait to speak to an agent, you can help you.

We've used Costco a couple of times and they have always been professional and helpful. They don't offer rebates, but the savings they do give you more than make up for that in my mind. On our 14 day, FL to CA cruise, Costco's discount alone saved us over $1300, add that to the great price we got by calling when the prices for that cruise were just released as opposed to a few hours or days later when they were much, much higher and we have saved well over $3500.

I have heard wonderful things about DU, I just don't have much experience with them other than checking on some price quotes, which they did quickly and professionally.

Go with your gut!! Either will get you on your cruise and isn't that the ultimate goal:yo-yo:

Have fun!!

two big differences between Costco and other TAs:

1. full amount due 90 days before the cruise, instead of 60 days before with DCL and other TAs (but in all cases you can get a full refund up to 60 days before).

2. can't make partial payments (at least that's what the Costco agent said when my wife transfered our reservation).

I think I made partial payments with Costco. I also received a gift in each of our staterooms. I was very happy with Costco and had no complaints about their service. Thaey saved us a bundle and transferring to them was quite easy.

We booked our Spring Break cruise in 3/02 with Costco. They beat both DCL and DU(even with a rebate) for pricing. I've never actually booked through DU, but I've had them check prices for me several times and I've always been impressed by how good their service was. The cruise that I have booked on Carnival for New Year's Eve '05 was also booked through Costco, and their price this time was the same as Carnival's.
We had no problems booking with Costco, and I was suprised to have a bottle of sparkling apple cider and chocolate strawberries in our stateroom on arrival.

Tried talking to Costco today but their phone message said they only have hours M-F....wanted to see if would be beneficial to transfer our ressie to them from DCL.

We just booked a cruise with DU for 4/23/05 - 7 day. Are we allowed to make partial payments along the way. This will be our third cruise and I had never thought of that before!
