Transfer question

I have a reservation at one of my home resorts (BLT) that I am hoping to switch at the 7 month deadline coming up. The new reservation is about 2x the points of the current one. Is the best way to handle this to transfer enough points from another home (Aulani) to BLT? If all of the points appear to be BLT will I be able to just modify the reservation to the more expensive one?
Also is there any downside to having transferred points if I cannot secure the new reservation?

First, at 7 months all points can be used at any resorts, Second, when you transfer points in from another member, they retain their own UY and home resort,

DVC will create a temporary contract to hold the points in your account. You simply check that contract when modifying, along with your BLT, to book the new room.

You just want to be sure that whatever points you get are valid for the trip you are taking.

Thanks for the reply - sorry I didn't explain well. All of the points are mine. It was my understanding that if I used my points from 2 different contracts (different home resorts, same UY) for the same reservation, it would be considered 2 reservations and I'd have to book separately (not to mention I couldn't combine points for a single day). That's why I was thinking of transferring my Aulani points to my BLT contract so I can make 1 reservation by modifying the BLT reservation I currently have.

If you have both contracts in the same membership, then you are not transferring.

Transferring is only when you move points from one membership to another membership,

In your case, you are simply changing at 7 months. All contracts now function as one. Just modify the reservation you have, choose the resort you now want, click both contracts and book,

The system will use banked points first from both contracts, and then take current UY points based on the order you have chosen.

So, if you want them to use up the BLT points first, have that first. If AUL, then have that first,
