How does one obtain transferred points?\

Is it done in the same manner of renting? Or

It is similar to renting. Rather than make a reservation for you, the other owner will transfer points from their account into your DVC account.

You then use those points to make your own reservations. Transferred points are supposed to retain their original use year and home resort priority.
